I would also add, the current federal government's value proposition can in large part be summed up as "don't let petty provincialism get in the way of building the nation" for which they are being rewarded handsomely in the polls and should probably stick with that.

It would be political malpractice and bad planning to allow some 28% minority government that will be gone in a few seasons derail planning and preparation for a national project that, moreover, undermines that minority faction’s whole raison d’être

I really hope the other parties absolutely tear into the NDP on this issue. This is the short of thing that ought to be government ending.

I would lean towards the former. The Greens are up from where they bottomed out but last polls I saw had them behind their 2017 and 2020 vote share

I would take it more in a direction of say "we're one country and you can get out of the way like Eby did on the pipeline" but you know we can throw them a bone and say it in French

Because the lets fucking go and build all the things means not letting petty provincialism derail the national interest anymore

And yet even with their very optimistic assumptions about the behavioral response, the on going revenues aren't even enough to close half the budget deficit

Well, I suppose Eby has the Greens to thank because their drive all the business owners out of the province tax makes Eby downright middle of the road.

There is also a credibility issue. This is not the first time they've raised the top tax brackets and don't have much to show for it bsky.app/profile/sdlb...

The top marginal tax rate will has grown under the NDP from 14.7% to 20.5% but they can't keep ERs open, they had to pause $10/day daycare expansion while blowing up the deficit. What is one more tax hike going to fix that the first several didn't?

Also isnt it wild that apparently "security of the person" includes a right to drug trafficking but not to buy medical services out of pocket because they public waitlists are too long?

Yeah, he at least he isnt running on using tax payer funds to buy and distribute drugs which will then get diverted and resold

Most of those are supply manged, which is a literal government sponsored and protected cartel designed to raise prices. Artificially increasing the price of milk and eggs then layering price controls on top because the price is too high is completely incoherent

I'll respectfully disagree, this provincial election is about serious and significant issues. Mostly, whether voterd want David Eby's policies from 2022 (Green), January 2026 (CentreBC), May 2026 (BCCons) or Oct 2026 (BCNDP).

a few too many decision makers who think that the mechanical effects of the exit of a pulse of temporary residents through the housing market is actually victory over the housing crisis.

I would say probably at least 15%-20%. That about where I have seen the Vancouver Liberals polling, which is probably a useful yard stick for how much the brand is worth on its own when attached to a new party.

How does the stay of the declaration of invalidity work? If someone gets arrested tomorrow for drug trafficking how does prosecution possibly proceed when a court just declared the law unconstitutional? And thats before even considering the trial probably wont even happen until after the stay ends.

it is quite confusing that “inclusionary zoning” is not the opposite of “exclusionary zoning”, but actually functions as a tool of exclusionary zoning

To get a bit more philosophical, governing is naturally moderating influence, so its no surprise that Eby drifted rightward. Just as Harper left office to the left of where he entered.

Been amusing to watch Eby slowly become the very thing he ran for office to destroy

Part of the YIMBY strength, drawing support from across the ideological spectrum is also its weakness, it isn't dominant within either coalition. Doesn't mean you can't move the ball forward, but the game is more elite persuasion than mass electoral mobilization
