Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 04/10/2026#steamsunday h/t Martin Spong on FB. Grand Union Canal at Willesden South December 1963 and Britain is still coming to terms with the shocking events of the previous month when that episode of Harry Worth was suddenly withdrawn because of a newsflash. 171
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Well, I've just an e mail from someone v closely connected with Syd to tell me how much they enjoyed All I Want Is Out Of Here. That's put a spring in my Autumnal step for sure. 3273
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 03/10/2026#Caturday Every day we set up a blanket bed for Jasper so he won't just park his arse where we sleep. We even go to the trouble of leaving a gentle incline just how he likes it. And every other day Jasper says "I blow my nose in your general direction". 2151

Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I hope everyone is enjoying this week's COTW as much as I am. Scott was of course agreeably crackers. Every time he mentions his spirit realm guru Koot Hoomi an image of Arthur Sultan forms in my head. 160
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Poetry at an angle. The wonderful Tom Raworth down with the kids. 050
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 01/10/2026October 1st and we still have an abundance of cherry tomatoes growing in the tub. And the cabbage whites and the bees love the lobelias. 2150
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Alice went up the hill on Sunday taking photos for her GCSE project. "Oh, I completely forgot to show you" she said over dinner. 1150
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 30/09/2026And put This in front and it still sounds 80s but poncy precious 80s. This Corrosion. This Mortal Coil. HMHB had the right idea. 280
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Recently unearthed manhole cover, made by Pavement Industries Limited of Alfreton 1876-1964 (later Associated Metal and Iron Works 1964-1984) Now dissolved. The area where the works once stood is now a partially wooded prime dogging site. 1191
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 30/09/2026And yet, inside. Pristine ish. I don't keep the records in it. Does anyone? 390
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Sad moment. The last of our delicious Katya eating apples for this year. We had such a glut C has made loads of orange juice for the freezer. 040
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Following @andylewis.bsky.social on the continuity from 50s to 80s London y/day this from the Times on the 90s show at Tate Britain draws the line at the end of all that. The last period of grant funded higher education, cheap warehouse and gallery space and affordable rent.> 1101
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I've had this biog for some time now but have only ever dipped into it. COTW might be the spur I need to sit down and read the whole thing. Not a dull life, as you'll hear this week. 030
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Colour me Autumn. Ahead of next week's COTW on R3 some perfect late September leaves on the turn Sunday morning listening courtesy of my favourite Theosophist composer. 061
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Lunchtime listening. Continuation. Sun Ra and the gang in NYC in 1963. The previously unreleased bonus tracks on the CD issue are astounding. The Sonny discovers reverb and echo trickery is not for everyone. Personally I love it. Right up there with Heliocentric Worlds this selection. 080
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 24/09/2026After a hugely enjoyable meet up with Mr Miller in Liverpool y/day I popped into Reids and bought Travesties (by far my favourite Stoppard play) and these two Fyfeilds. Money well spent. 090

Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 22/09/2026From this Mercury Prize nominated album. Exciting new jazz soul combo. I hope this isn't just the token jazz nomination because they deserve to go far. 040
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 20/09/2026We're getting to the raggedy bedraggled end of the growing season now. The hanging basket cherry toms are dying off but still producing and with the continued mild weather and the balance of sunshine and showers we are going to lose very few this year. 0130
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Sonny. They got your back. The immortal three. Marshall Allen, Danny Thompson, John Gilmore. Satellites are spinning. 080
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026A couple of bonus pics to make it up to 20. Another one from the finale chant. 170
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Space is the place. Space is the place. Space is the place. Yeah. Space is the place. 160

Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Miss Astro Slinky and the famed Lightning Drum to the right. Hewn from the wood of a struck tree. That thing was LOUD. 2110
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026The most wonderful the most elegant Miss June Tyson. 1110
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Arkestra got the spangly costumes AND the funky moves. 180
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026The Delfonics medley was always my favourite part of the set. 1100
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Amendment to everything. All the time I've been conflating two separate tours (I forget just how many times I saw Sun Ra in the 80s) This was the gig the previous year where I sneaked into the soundcheck and took loads of great b/w photos, previously posted, of the band without their stage gear on. 1120
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Sun Ra Saturday. 18 photos from the London Venue gig (second night October 13th 1983 - note corrected date) going up here and on my Insta periodically through the day. Laydeez and Gentlemen. The best front and backline in the known universe. 68413
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Actually, scrub that. These are from the second night at the Venue (1982? I have the ticket somewhere) The Brixton Academy ones will be somewhere else. I'll find those too. 390
Rob Chapman @scribblerrob.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Get ready for Sun Ra Saturday. Here and on Insta. I just found a whole batch of colour pics I took of the Arkestra at Brixton Academy. Haven't looked at them in years. Not the b/w ones I took at The Venue soundcheck in 82. Later ones. Here's a taster. Smiling Sonny & June Tyson leaving at the end. 2314
