some genres just feel like they're at their best on specific formats, like black metal on tape, melodeath on CD, doom on vinyl

happy new Swans live album day to me

Leonardo DiCaprio watched Tony Leung in this movie and thought what if he was just angry all the time and yelled a lot and that’s it

010

anyway time to watch Infernal Affairs again

took an hour-long walk after work kicked my ass today and it actually worked and I feel much better

every time I have to call an insurance company at work, it is a miserable fucking experience

130

idk what it is but plain white rice looks so incredibly delicious to me. like I’ve obviously eaten it many, many times in my life and know what it actually tastes like but I can’t help but think “damn that looks good” whenever I see it

3130

watching the little car on the tracking for my package drive circles around my apartment complex

250

the improvised organ solos on Fredrik Thordendal’s Sol Niger Within are so goddamn funny

120

meshuggah catch thirtythree

2180

okay I love this movie but why the hell is it getting this ridiculous 5-disc $80 msrp release

shoutout to food, love to eat food

might be a hot take but Blade Runner 2049 should’ve been even longer

"[My Restless Temple] is relentlessly hooky, filled to the brim with exciting moments and the kind of triumphant choruses that beg for a singalong. Many tracks here ride a fine line between somber and joyously grandiose--no easy feat" Thank you friend <3 aliciacordisco.bandcamp.com/album/my-res...

"this is an utterly incredible piece of music. Still rejects any sense of stillness, constantly playing with intensity and motion. It is dissonant and harsh and and droning and claustrophobic and distressing and uncomfortable and abrasive, and yet wholly engrossing." thank you so much!!

Sleeping Village Micro-Reviews: 2026 Vol. 1 There are a great many albums I would like to discuss, but not nearly enough time. Hence: this! A collection of very short--micro, even--reviews written in reaction to various music released in 2026. www.sleepingvillagereviews.com/reviews--pre...

starting to really feel the loneliness of not having a partner but christ do I not want to have to deal with whatever dating looks like in your late 30s

watched Paths of Glory after work and goddamn that is a movie that made me really angry (this is a compliment)

460

you folks are not ready for how good the opening track of the new Scoured album is

190

god fuck shit the main riff of Blackened is so good fuck

4160

very grateful for my younger self's decision to stop smoking before it became a habit, even if the reason (saving my singing voice) is funny in retrospect (my singing voice is not very good)

1120

might revive that Little Things Give You Away cover I have buried in my demos

010

verdict: it's fine but noticeably worse than classic LP. The Emptiness Machine fucks but nothing else comes close to feeling like a True Linkin Park Banger and it's so all over the place in terms of style, hopping from nu metal to alt pop to alt rock at random from song to song

350

alright, now that enough time has passed that I'm not as emotionally invested in it, it's time to revisit the 2024 Linkin Park album

260

finally watched the second Silent Hill movie and goddamn that sucked

1100

think I might try my hand at doing a score for an old silent horror film

070

it always bugs me when a band's only live albums have them just playing an album straight through for most of it. the way setlists merge different eras of your discography through your current sound is the entire appeal of a live album!

3140

I wonder what the first metal song to do the sudden hoedown trope was

360

similarly funny to metal-archives considering me pure black metal:

we love to talk about a good OUGH but a powerful FUCK can be just as sick

Lady Emily ☄️ @ladyemily.nebula.tv · 23/09/2026

very funny (and telling) to me that RYM's averages ignore the ratings of people who actually like music and rate it highly

gonna pull all my music off streaming for a while in a month or so. I can't justify the cost of my current service so I'll be looking into other options

240

legacy bands adding new harsh vocalists should hire one from the incredibly talented and lesser known rather than mid as hell vocalists that ruin every band they touch

1130

now that I remember just how bad Dragonforce are these days, time to listen to when they were great instead

3182

genuinely hilarious how poorly the power metal and melodeath parts of the new Dragonforce song fit together

140

I had thought for years that every movie I've seen that's longer than 3.5 hours has been a masterpiece but I was just reminded that I've seen Zack Snyder's Justice League

261

movie musicals peaked in the 70s when they were insane hallucinations rather than trying to be emotionally impactful or whatever

170

video games were better when they had guitarists shred over their main themes

030

it’s become a bit overdone to say that everyone in The Mummy (1999) is outrageously hot but jesus christ
