We did a painting activity in my last job which was genuinely quite fun. The company was Tipsy Art and used a space in Mercato Metropolitano so we all had an affordable lunch too!

I know it's only October, but just had a conversation with my mum about ordering from M&S for Christmas, and 6 months ago we weren't sure she'd be able to be in her own home at all, let alone planning Christmas food (which I will be cooking). Reminding myself that sometimes good things happen.

Lastly everyone involved in our professional body really wants it to be good for the sector. There’s so much good work going on, it’s a privilege to have been able to try to support that as Chair even in small ways. And now I’m away to open a bottle of wine and have a lie down.

I have many thoughts on the sector, but one of my strongest current feelings is if you want things to be different then act - don’t just say sector orgs aren’t doing enough. Things take time, we need to at least try. Have I fixed it all? No! But I’ve tried to put things in place which will benefit.

Two years on and it’s still slightly incredible, but that’s my term as ARA chair complete. I have learned A Lot, and mostly enjoyed the experience! I will say that losing a parent and changing jobs twice during a term as chair is Not Ideal but everyone was incredibly supportive.

I used to work somewhere where one of our trustees apparently lived in the penthouse in St Pancras, so I think this was his flat. He had a spectacular inability to read the room and remember the employees were people who needed their jobs.
