I was devastated to learn tonight that an old friend of mine from Chicago passed away. We had lost touch over the years, which makes the news hit even harder. He was a few years younger than I am, and it turns out he died of Alzheimer's. And tomorrow is my mom's yahrzeit. I hate this time of year.

Fuji, head for the hills! This weekend is the MCAS Miramar Air Show/Festival of Kiddie Agitprop. The brainwashing runs from 10:15 to 4:15 with free admission—it's the annual celebration of non-stop window-rattling flyovers. There'll even be a special appearance by "The Blue Angel."

After all the talk about "Coyote vs Acme," I went back and watched "Looney Tunes: Back in Action." I like both movies, but nothing in CvA had me laughing as hard as these dual "tributes" to JL in the Parisian segment of LT:BIA. They were marvelous.
