My consulting / board membership calendar opens up in February, if anyone could use my expertise (libraries / cultural heritage / critical AI / evidence-informed grantmaking / computational humanities research / govtech / etc.).

I ordered some tealight candles and they sent me 400. Does anyone need romantic engagement mood lighting, or perhaps a li'l adorable spell circle to summon the impish spirit of nearly-accurate logistics?

Route to future recreation in the forbidden region.
figure labeled COMPLEX VELOCITY SPACE

The plane shows a 'physical region' on the horizontal axis with hatch marks between -c and +c (speed of light).

On the positive axis, a dark line moves towards +c, hops over it, and then swirls around in a calligraphic flourish. The flourish has an arrow pointing downwards with text below reading "Rout to future recreation in the forbidden region."

it’s officially “sorry I can’t today I have to go eat in an intentionally badly-made tent and shake an overpriced warty lemon and a bouquet made only of leaves around“ season, girlies. Chag sameach.

We're not currently hiring developers, but keep an eye out for when next we do. I will be hiring developers who can move slow and fix things here at the Library of Virginia in Richmond.

Kākāpō numbers pass 300 for the first time in 75 years. New Zealand’s flightless, nocturnal parrot now totals 325 birds, after a record 90 chicks fledged this season, built on the Department of Conservation’s recovery programme, which started with just 51 birds in 1995. DOC buff.ly/7YIOBd9

A decade ago, a “weird” kitten was found on a road near a Bolivian forest. Too small to be a housecat, he had a scrunched-up face, short round ears, long whiskers, & a coat of leopard-like spots. DNA analysis now reveals him as the very first of a newly discovered species & I think I'm in love. 😻🧬🧪👇

One of the things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time. Do not hoard what seems good for a later place in the book or for another book; give it, give it all, give it now. The impulse to save something good for a better place later is the signal to spend it now. Something more will arise for later, something better. These things fill from behind, from beneath, like well water. Similarly, the impulse to keep to yourself what you have learned is not only shameful, it is destructive. Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes.

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy -Douglas Adams
You just let the machines get on with the adding up,” warned Majikthise, “and we’ll take care of the eternal verities thank you very much. You want to check your legal position, you do, mate. Under law the Quest for Ultimate Truth is quite clearly the inalienable prerogative of your working thinkers. Any bloody machine goes and actually finds it and we’re straight out of a job, aren’t we? I mean, what’s the use of our sitting up half the night arguing that there may or may not be a God if this machine only goes and gives us his bleeding phone number the next morning? It occurs to me that running a programme like this is bound to create an enormous amount of popular publicity for the whole area of philosophy in general. Everyone’s going to have their own theories about what answer I’m eventually to come up with, and who better to capitalize on that media market than you yourself? So long as you can keep disagreeing with each other violently enough and slagging each other off in the popular press, you can keep yourself on the gravy train for life. How does that sound?”

Historic treasures only survive if every generation takes care of them in an unbroken chain. Amid my donations to improve and save lives in the present, I always feel it’s vital to make a few to protect the legacy of the past as well.

humans are amazing, all the reviews are from people who paid this person to pre-annotate booktok romantasy titles
* Optional small doodles, hearts, stars, symbols, or themed decorations. (let me know)

The chapter guide provides a summary every few chapters, while the playlist guide includes the same summaries along with a list of songs for each set of chapters. It also features a Spotify playlist with all the songs in order based on the book, as well as the reasons why I chose each song for those chapters. Choose a Glossary Guide only if there are terms or words that are unfamiliar you'd like me to notate or add information about. For example, if a book is heavy in science terms, including a glossary for all of the scientific terms, etc.

****Please note:*****

This listing is for custom hand annotation services. The final product will vary depending on the book, the annotation style selected, and your personal preferences. I put care into every book so that it feels thoughtful, personal, and one of a kind.

Perfect for readers who love tabs, highlighted quotes, handwritten notes, and a cozy, personalized reading experience.

Heads-up everyone in digital humanities and/or cultural AI: this is a hugely valuable resource. It does the systematic cleaning and segmentation — of a million books — that we have always wanted to have, for computational research, and have never quite produced in a way that stuck.
