That's my Dad (standing) in 1964 pretending to work the pretend reactor panel on the USS Enterprise. They didn't want a picture leaked of the actual control panel, so his group posed in front of an electrician's panel. When I showed it to my Mother she got a dreamy smile. I think she likes him.

Fun fact (if I am remembering it right): In the Million Man March of 1995, police made the decision to wear regular uniforms instead of helmets and body armor for crowd control. They felt heavily armed cops would be seen as "antagonistic" and might create problems instead of preventing them

Since the Civil War ended, no third party has ever won the US Presidency or a significant bloc in either the House or Senate. Third parties siphon votes from one party allowing the other to win with less of a plurality and freeing them to cater to their base instead of swinging to the center.
