I haven’t interacted with a model in two weeks. I’m barely posting. I have walked at least 18k steps a day, met a lady with a bike, and hiked up to an old tower over a twice-abandoned village. I feel great.

A mean-looking woman with a big nose and broad shoulders could mean anything and we should say it more.
Two-panel comic in green tones.

**Panel 1:** Two women in a bedroom with a window blind behind them. On the left, a curly-haired woman with glasses sits on the edge of a bed, looking startled. On the right, a woman with long dark hair sits cross-legged on a bed with a laptop, one hand raised. She says, "So, are you like, gay or something?" The left woman replies, "What?" The right woman asks, "What Pride flag is that?"

**Panel 2:** The curly-haired woman stands in front of a large flag with vertical green, white, and red stripes, the Italian flag. She looks awkward and says "..."

His fellow officers: “Destroy that twink!” San Sebastián:
Guido Reni (Bologna 1575 - Bologna 1642)

St. Sebastian
oil on canvas
Sebastian, an officer in the Praetorian guard dur-ing the time of the emperor Diocletian (284-305 AD), became a Christian and suffered martyrdom at the hands of his fellow officers. Guido Reni uses classical references to focus on the mystical aspects of the episode rather than on Sebastian's suffering. The painting dates from around 1615, and a second version can be seen in the Palazzo

Skywatch got another email from Shellenberger. He’s a crank yes, but Canada, Lithuania, and the EEAS pulling their sponsorship definitely speaks to some some sort of political pressure campaign targeting #Disinfo2026 and now I’m worried about if I’ll be able to get home without harassment.
I wrote to you on October 3 about #Disinfo2026 and have not had a reply.
Since then the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to me: "Upon becoming aware of the above-mentioned discussion topics, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania withdrew from any participation in the conference. The Ministry has also formally dissociated itself from the conference content and requested that the organisers remove all references to the Ministry from conference materials, communications, and promotional activitiesiỊại
Andrius Katinas of the Radio and Television
Commission of Lithuania wrote to me that he has withdrawn as a speaker "in light of the differences of opinion that have arisen with the organisers of the
'Disinfo 2026' conference regarding the assessment of the role of the United States."
The conference's sponsors page no longer lists the Lithuanian ministry, Global Affairs Canada or the European External Action Service.
Do you still plan to take part, and what is your response to the ministry's statement and to Mr.
Katinas's?
What have the organizers told you about these withdrawals?
The questions in my October 3 letter stand. I would be glad to talk by phone at 415-710-1042. Please reply by 11 am Eastern today, Tuesday, October 6.A poster with withdrawn sponsors covered up by printer paper

I am the publisher of Public, which reaches 2 million people across all platforms, and I am writing about next week's #Disinfo2026 conference in Vilnius.
The programme lists you as a speaker in "Trust and safety through decentralised platforms" on October 8. The description reads: "This panel explores the operational realities of deploying automated defense tools across decentralised spaces."
The conference's sponsors page lists the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Global Affairs Canada as "main supporters," and the European External Action Service under "with the support of."
The same programme includes a session titled "USA as a FIMI threat: acknowledge, adapt, push back," whose description asks "how did the United States become a FIMI threat for Europe?" It also includes a workshop run by Ghost Shift in which participants
"draw on an operational toolkit (coveringFirst, what do you intend the session to achieve, and what actions will you ask governments, regulators or platforms to take?
Second, is any government, or any organization that receives government money, paying a fee or expenses for your appearance? Which governments, if any, fund your work or your organization's?
Third, have you, or any organization you work with, asked a platform or a regulator to remove, label, demonetize or restrict online content or accounts? If so, which content, and when?
Fourth, do you regard the US government as a source of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) in Europe? Have you had any contact with the State Department or another US agency about your work or this conference?
Fifth, do you, or any organization you work with, operate or advise on online accounts or personas that do not disclose who runs them?
I would be glad to talk by phone at 415-710-1042.
Please reply by 5 pm Eastern on Monday, October 5.

The notion that there are those who talk of ethics and safety who turn around and justify this sort of thing is galling, but also apparently good company.
Choosing to host an application which extends a man’s control over a woman in a near-chattel like relationship backed up by the violence of the state is not an ethical dilemma. Allowing anti-Vaccination grifters to target women interested in pregnancy is not a dilemma. Neither is banning porn while allowing white nationalism to thrive, stonewalling a UN investigation into genocide, and investing in the facial recognition technology driving China’s ethnic-cleansing of the Xinjaing region. These are choices reflecting a values system and justified by market access and shareholder returns.

yeah that's a no from me boss
Hi D,

I came across your background and wanted to reach out about a Senior Technical Program Manager opportunity at DraftKings.

This role sits within our Sportsbook Trading space and focuses on leading complex data initiatives across Engineering, Analytics, Trading, and Data. We’re looking for someone with strong technical/data experience who enjoys driving cross-functional programs and working with tools like Snowflake, Databricks, and SQL.

Would you be open to a quick conversation to learn more?

Best,
EricaHi Erica,

Thanks for reaching out. Sports betting a moral stain on our country that is destroying lives and marriages and is directly linked to increases in domestic violence and harassment of female athletes. You should consider finding a new job and certainly consider me a hard no on this.

Kind regards,

I think I've got it
Seeing a lot of buzz on the timeline lately about Jacob Coxon's 10% AI doom probability and Anthropic's "Pacing the Frontier." 🚀 When these topics start dominating our daily syncs and watercooler chats, you know they've officially broken into the mainstream! 💡

But let's unpack the context here. 🧵 It's crucial to recognize that the Bay Area "AI Safety" narrative is deeply intertwined with millenarian rationalist groups (some with highly controversial and even fatal offshoots resulting in at least four murders). On the business side, we're witnessing frontier labs pushing for regulatory capture. Their proposed oversight mechanism, METR, has deep financial (and allegedly literal) entanglements with their own teams. 🚩

The funding pipeline between Anthropic/major labs and METR—whether in cash or token donations—cannot be understated. 💸 It’s certainly interesting timing for this PR push! Frontier labs are currently facing massive price pressure from highly competitive Chinese open-weight models that rival their flagships, and rumors of impending layoffs within the year are circulating. 📉

To be clear: I am 100% pro-regulation. 🛡️ But we need sensible, pragmatic frameworks. We shouldn't be building policy based on bizarre attempts by folks who believe a future superintelligent AI will kill anyone who prevents its creation, nor should we be handing out permission slips to form a tech cartel or a panopticon. What are your thoughts on the current state of AI regulation? Let's discuss below! 👇 #AI #TechPolicy #ArtificialIntelligence #Regulation #FutureOfWork #TechIndustry

I mean, even the VCs have been going on about this: www.politico.com/news/magazin...
First, Andreessen warned us to watch out for "the sex cult that wants to run America's AI policy." This appears to be a reference to instances of polyamory in the effective altruism movement, many of whose adherents believe AI poses existential risks to humanity. Effective altruism is a philosophy we and the Biden administration did not share.

You could just recycle this for the current moment and it would hit just the same tbh
The challenge of the next half century is whether we have the wisdom to use that wealth to enrich and elevate our national life, and to advance the quality of our American civilization.

Your imagination, your initiative, and your indignation will determine whether we build a society where progress is the servant of our needs, or a society where old values and new visions are buried under unbridled growth. For in your time we have the opportunity to move not only toward the rich society and the powerful society, but upward to the Great Society.

The Great Society rests on abundance and liberty for all. It demands an end to poverty and racial injustice, to which we are totally committed in our time. But that is just the beginning.
