There's not a lot more important we can ask our MPs to focus on than what they can actively do to slow the climate crisis.

7/ MPs walk back into the Commons today with a choice: serve constituents, or serve oil majors. #Jackdaw & #Rosebank don't bring "energy security". They're bring fire, more floods, more deaths, locked in for decades. 🛑 Stop new extraction 🌱 Protect ecosystems 🔬 Let science lead, not lobbying

6/ 💀 NEW OIL & GAS = MORE DEATHS "Climate change is increasingly destabilising the... systems... on which human life depends" — Lancet Countdown, 2025 UK heatwaves this year killed an estimated 2,700+ people. 42% of those deaths are attributed to human-caused warming.

4/ 🌊 NEW OIL & GAS = MORE FLOODS A warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, meaning heavier rain & stronger cyclones. Hurricane Melissa's rainfall was made roughly twice as likely in today’s heated #climate.

3/ 🔥 NEW OIL & GAS = MORE FIRES Hotter, drier conditions mean wildfires spread faster & burn longer. Attribution scientists repeatedly find human-caused #climate change to be a key driver of deadly wildfires. NASA data shows extreme fires are getting bigger and more frequent.

Sorry for shouting but... THE ENTIRE POINT OF CCS IS TO ENABLE MORE FOSSIL FUEL USE. That it captures jack shit doesn't matter. All fossil fuel interests need to do is claim that the emissions their extraction produces will be removed from the atmosphere. At some point. Somehow.
