Queerest crios at the Seattle highland games! I was doing a demo of the traditional Irish foot weaving method from the Aran Islands all weekend!
Woven warp faced band being made using no loom on the foot. Pattern of the band is white, trans flag, rainbow, trans flag, white border. The weaving is tied to a long toed medieval shoe made of blue leather.

My friend recently lost their sister to military violence in the Philippines. I don’t typically post fundraisers but this sweet human sends me letters and I care about their family. Please share if you can. (I wouldn’t trust msm coverage of this, it’s being suppressed/misrepresented intentionally )

We are in the last 20 hrs to bid on this weaving I did inspired by the Bifröst of Nordic mythology to support the National Nordic Museum in Seattle. This is their biggest fundraising event of the year and helps them run all their events and regular museum activity. Link in my bio!
White text in center reads "the inspiration". Image is a collage showing various images including the god Heimdall blowing a horn with a bifrost depicted as a rainbow arching in the backround. Above is an image of Freya in her chariot draw by cats riding over the rainbow bridge which appears to be aflame. There is also and image showing the whole arc of a rainbow on the backdrop of a rain dark sky. Additionally there are two small images showing the milkyway and the aurora borealis. Test on image reads "the art" show is several images of a woven belt with a rainbow knotwork pattern woven into it. The rainbow is on a dark grey backround. It's hard to see in the images but the main dark color of the band actually has many small bits of color that give it an oil slick look or the light off a crows feather vibe. On each side of the rainbow knotwork pattern is a section of the same dark backround but with a white dot pattern giving the look of stars. The border of the weaving is white and the edge has a dark dot pattern on white. It is shown on the loom. A close up of the pattern. Rolled displaying the edge dots. Tied around the waist of a person in a long dark gray sweater in that image it is wrapped around the waist twice and the long tails fall vertically in a way that is reminiscent of medieval belts. Blue header reads "Notably Nordic. Northern lights Auction to benefit the National Nodric Museum" additional text reads "the online auction to support the National Nordic Museum! Link in tree in bio. Less than 20 hrs left" an images shows the same picture of someone wearing the belt as the last image but it's labeled as it's seen in the auction. Package 63. Handwoven irish crios belt 'Bifröst'. Top bid is currently $175"

Today I was reminded this little gold boat from 100 BCE Ireland exists and decided to pass on the joy! Little boat is just under 20 cm long and was found as part of the Broighter hoard on the shore of Lough Foyle in County Derry in 1896. #archeology
Super cute gold model boat on a black backround. Body of boat is made with a hammered gold oval piece. Inside the boat are little gold bench stripes. Seven tine oars that are long and thin popping out of the visible side of the boat and are angled down as if paddling at the water. There is a tiny gold rudder of the back and a thin little mast but no sail.

Bifröst! Current pick-up weaving on the loom! I'll be donating it to the National Nodric Museums annual Northern lights auction! It's inspired by the famous rainbow bridge from Norse mythology.
Belt Weaving on an inkle loom. The belt is about 3 inches wide. It has a symmetrical pattern of a thin white border with black dots from the weft followed by a black semi opalescent field with pale gray star dots. The center of the pattern is a rainbow with purple edges and red in the center the threads are picked into a knot work pattern that is slightly puffed out from the black field of the band. The weaving is around the pale wood peg of an inkle loom and the shuttle in in the weaving where the warp threads continue past the woven section. The whole thing is on a back round of white linnen.

Crios weaving of the day! Color gradient variation of a black and white pattern from a 1918 crios currently at the National Museum of Ireland.
Band weaving in progress. A peg of an inkle loom displays a band of about 2.5 inches of width. The band is white and a gradient of blue to turquoise from the edges to the center in a check pattern. The weaving is incomplete with the shuttle still in-between the warp threads. After the shuttle the inwoven warp threads and pulled tight on the loom. The whole loom is sitting in the grass and sunlight makes the whole thing feel of spring.

I made this tiny Brigid's cross out of pine needles I found on the ground.
Tiny green Brigid' cross rests on in the palm. The arms reach from across the palm from the inside of the pinky finger to the outside of the pointer finger. It is green. The style of cross is a woven square with four arms.

Annual reminder to leave out a bit of cloth, a ribbon, a scarf, or even a jacket to be blessed by Brigid and to be your Brat Bhríde for the year! They ward off headaches, and do a bit of protection. Also a kufiya makes a wonderful choice as a sign of solidarity. #Brigid
A one inch wide woven ribbon with a brown border and a white middle. The center has a bright green cross pattern. It is hitched around a thin branch. The backround is all sticks and ivy. A house porch with a lattice railing running to the covered roof. A black and blue Kufiya is tied to the lattice work.

👀 these trews from 17th century Killery out of this nice blue and white wool? The original would have been black or blue and probably yellow.
Open book page shows front and back view of a closely fitted leg covering with a check pattern. Fits closely around the leg down to the ankle come to a point o. The thighs at center front. The crotch is loosely fitted and rather baggy. The bottom section o. A long coat is also seen but pulled up to shwcase the trews. Image description in book reads "trews from killery, co. Sligo (front and back views). Legs of check woolen fabric; the body of plain. They were probably held taut with instep strap." The rest of the image shows a blue and white check woven wool fabric layed over the bottom section of the page along with a plain blue fabric.

Found this image while doing medieval fashion research. They are very MLM mail loving mail. Love wins the crusade.
Two 1400's knights in plate mail. One wears a blue cote the other a cote of red, yellow, and blue. Their waists are snatched. They have helmets with no vision and stare lovingly into eachothers eyes. The one on the right has is hand on the others shoulder while in turn the one on the left has his hand on the others waist. There is no heterosexual explanation. They both wear long pionted shoes that were associated with queer people in the middle ages. Image is from a manuscript and shows signs of age and deterioration especially by the feet.

Anyone wanting one of the Brat Bhríde I made before imbolc/brigids day should order soon! A Brat Bhríde is a irish tradition of leaving out a ribbon or bit of cloth the eve of Feb 1st. To be blessed by Brigid. These were left of last year for the 1500 anniversary of Brigid.
Round basket woven of pale reeds with a tall handle rests on stair that are trying their best to still be blue despite most of the paint having aged off. In side the basket are many absolutely stunning (im saying this because I wove them lol) hand woven warp faced ribbons of many patterns and colors. There are yellow cream ones, yellow blue white ones, green brown white ones, orange, gray white ones, black and red ones, blue and gray ones and white and gray checked ones. Also I promise they are soft.

A typing wrists rest I made out of a crios (traditional irish belt) weaving. I've sewn several of these in the past out of cloth, but it was fun to use my own weaving!
A close up of a woven band with a blue, purple, green and white pattern. The end closest to the viewer is finished with braids. The band is somewhat puffed up in a way that shows it is stuffed (with beans, but thats not actually visible). It is positioned in front of a open lap top where someone's wrists would rest as they type. There is also a crotchet white lace doilies part way under the laptop. And in the backround a red mug shaped like a d20 dice can be seen. The whole thing is on a medium dark wood desk looking surface.

My saffron flowers from back in October! In Ireland in the 1500s saffron was a huge import, but not for food. It was used as a dye to achieve a lovely yellow color that was extremely popular in clothing especially for the Léine a large shirt with big sleeves. #irishhistory #historicfashion
A small crocus flower with six pale purple oval shaped petals. The flower is open displaying 3 bright red stigmas from which the spice and dye come. Each flower will only produce those three and they must be hand harvested which is why this relatively easy to grow flower produces a spice that is so expensive. In the picture there are three flowers and one bud. The bud is a pale purple comming up in between the grass like leaves of the paint that are sprouting up in bundles. A painting of an Irish man from 1574. In the forefront is a man wearing a knee length Léine. The Léine is light yellow and gathered. At the hip it is tied with a belt, but excess fabric is gathered above the belt simular to a Greek peplos. The upper torso is covered by a red jacket with drop sleeves that expose the large sleeves of the Léine. The man's arm is bent and a slight angle down his body and hold a sword. The sleeves of the léine drop down past the hem of the body at the knee but have a much smaller opening at the elbow.

I make kits to learn to weave a traditional Irish crios (belt) using the old loomless method! A crios was worn as part of the folkwear of the Aran Islands! It's comes as shown all ready to weave with about 2" prewoven to get you started! #traditionalcraft #crios #irishcrios #weaving #folkwear
A squiggly line of a weaving kit. Along the length there are several knots. At one point half the threads are attached to much thinner threads which are in turn tied to a wooden rod. There is a several inch section that is already woven showing a black, white, green, and red pattern. The woven end is finished in a big chunky braid meant to be replaced later with smaller ones once the weaving has progressed. pattern is inspired by the Palestinian flag and the traditional Palestinian scarf kufiya (all sales in this pattern aid Palestine). It is laid out on a white linen backround.

Queer Irish mythology inspired traditional Irish belts (criosanna) made by my own little Asexual Aromantic Agender hands! We have liath Luachra, Bodhmall, Ferdia, the Gae Bulg, Brigid, and Bé Mannair! These are all I'm my shop! #irishmythology #queermythology #weaving #irishcrios
Radial pattern of layed out hand woven belts. The first to the left is in shades of grey representing the sword wielding lesbian Liath Luachra. The next belt is of the same pattern but in green, yellow, blue, red, and white representing Liath's girlfriend Bodhmall the druidess. Next is a red, white, blue and orange pattern representing Ferdia who had some very gay things to say about Cú Chulainn. The next is a rainbow pattern with a central brown and gray spear like motif representing the Gae Bulg the mythical spear wielded by Cú Chulainn. Then is a blue, green, white, yellow, brown pattern representing Brigid who was asexual and saphic in the way she rejected men, and sexuality while living her life sharing a bed and a very close connection to a fellow nun. Last is Bé Mannair a gender fluid shapeshifter who used her trasphomations to outwit their enemies. Additionally can be seen small square patches of the brigid, gae bulg, and Bodhmall designs. There is also a thin transflag weaving of the perfect size to be a bookmark. It is all laid out on a white linen backround.

Crios (traditional Irish belt) inspired by seeing the sunrise on the morning of the winter solstice! It's now in my shop!
Close up of woven belt layed out in an over laping fashion. The belt has a white border followed by a grey stripe then a black to light blue gradient followed by another gray stripe then horizontal white and grey stripes then a yellow and gray center design followed by a symmetrical copy of the other half of the design. It is layed out on a rock backround. The same belt as in the first picture but from a wider perspective. It's giving blue, grey, yellow, white. This images shows that one end of the belt is finished in 5 braids and the other end in 5 tassels. The same belt as the previous images but rolled up into a cricle showing a grey and white dot pattern on the edge.

Two blue and white woven belts layed out in an interwoven over laping pattern vaugly in the shape of a heart on a white linen backround. One in thin with a white border and a blue gradient of light to dark. The other is wide following the same gradient but interspersed with white in a checked pattern. Most fashionable 1300 gay shoes! Poulaines or crakow were said by a Benedictine monk to be worn by those who "gave themselves up to sodimidic filth". Don't mind the inaccurate construction of these. They were the first shoes I made.
A pair of blue medieval leather shoes with an orange lining. One is positioned sideways while the other is linned up straight. They have long pointed toes that curve up very slightly from wear. There is visible stiting on the upper through to the sole which is worn out at the tip of the toes. At the center front and center back at the ankle the they come to a nice triangle shape that goes up the ankle from the sole of the shoe leaving the ankle bone exposed and leading the eye up. They are serving 1300's gay medieval peasant.

Current weavings in my shop! I make Criosanna (traditional Irish belts) inspired by Irish Mythology (especially queer mythology), brat bhríde (protective healing ribbons blessed by Brigid), and little patches!
Many colorful woven belts layed out in a semicircular radiant pattern with an inner and outer row. Below the belts are small 1 inch wide 12 inch long weavings and little square patches of the same woven pattens as some of the belts. All the weavings are very colorful and layer put on a white linen background.
