My sole opinion on current lore discoursé is that killing off any character has to have some hard reasoning behind it or else you are going to do a lot of damage by changing peoples’ expectations and investment towards a story. You are leaving potential to go into the trash.

Practically every night elf tossed themselves into the hell that was the trials. And like the Sunfury, they too died in droves. The bodies could form piles that stood shoulder to shoulder with a nether drake. He only assumed so, as the Broken took them away whenever they expired. At one point Sharvane asked one what happened to the failures. The dead.

After a few long moments sampling the fear radiating from her, the Broken woman silently pointed towards the warlocks training felhounds. They were across the parade grounds, but Sharvane could clearly make out the mortal fel-stained bodies of the orcs and the demonic fel of their hounds. And the dead, diffuse fel-stains in the meat used to train them. And then, with a furtive flick, to the Dragonmaw and their young nether drakes. Again, the same type of fodder.

Sharvanes eyes flicked to the recruits, their flesh living and demon-mortal. In death, only the lingering inroads of fel were present, when otherwise mana quickly vacated the flesh. He assumed the creatures were fed dead demons, rather plentiful in Outland. Not this.

Horrifying.
