In general elves (and trolls/haranir) have an easier time with this/pregnancy/birth in the way I write. Mortality is very low! Half elves have massive variation; the more magic they use/passively need the closer it aligns to an average elf. (its the magic that is behind longevity/this)

I write elves having a 8-10 year average on cycles. They shorten if the individual is magically starved. Individual variation is a thing but most fall into having the above cycle length. The intermediate is the lengthened portion, meaning all the terrible parts are similar to humans

It is the arcane stuff. It's been shown that an excess of it can create a sort of ghost after you depart. iirc most of the kaldorei ghosts we see are ancient as well (ante/midst sundering deaths). If you wan a non-elf banshee then they likely were an arcane mage or was part of some awful cotd shit

Presumably, I think elves are so common because their arcane alignment just naturally causes them to persist after death, so when combined with death magic this easily warps them into banshees. And also a shit ton of high elves got their shit rocked "recently."

I actually write it this way. I liken Thalassian and Darnassian to how Czeck and Slovak are sister languages, with Russian being Zandali. The ways they differ though are more fun. Darnassian has a larger focus on role and rank while Thalassian does not (noble dialect), so it is seen as rude

I had him originally pitying Az, but after consideration I had his own experience with fel (it being something he could do— spirits didn’t answer Velgrim) mirror Az’s so he saw himself in Asrinth.
