What can everyone do to help prevent #AMR? ✅ • Take antibiotics 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and follow the instructions. • Strengthen 𝐡𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞 (handwashing, kitchen hygiene, etc.). • 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 of leftover antibiotics in toilets or drains. ➡ Every small action counts! 🌐 #WAAW @who.int

Hellblaue Infografik mit Überschrift: ‚Ziel: Verbrauch senken‘. Darunter Fließtext: ‚Der Verbrauch von Antibiotika in Deutschland soll bis 2030 um 9 % im Vergleich zu 2019 gesenkt werden. Dieses Ziel ist Teil der Deutschen Antibiotika-Resistenzstrategie (DART 2030), die 2023 verabschiedet wurde, um Resistenzen zu verringern und die Wirksamkeit von Antibiotika zu erhalten.‘
Es folgt ein weiterer Absatz: ‚Ein wichtiger Bestandteil dieser Strategie ist das Konzept des Antibiotic Stewardship (ABS). ABS fördert die rationale Antibiotikaverordnung und unterstützt die Fachkräfte im klinischen Bereich, den Antibiotikaeinsatz gezielt und nachhaltig zu optimieren.‘
Dann ein dritter Absatz: ‚Der Antibiotikaverbrauch in Deutschland soll auf unter 11,5 DDD pro 1.000 Einwohner und Tag gesenkt werden. Aktuell liegt der Verbrauch bei 13,8 DDD* pro 1.000 Einwohner/Tag. Der Verbrauch ist leicht gestiegen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr (13,3 DDD), was die Notwendigkeit zur weiteren Optimierung des Antibiotikaeinsatzes unterstreicht.‘
Unten steht die Fußnote: ‚*DDD steht für „Defined Daily Doses“ (zu Deutsch: „Tagesdosen“) und beschreibt die standardisierte, durchschnittliche Erhaltungsdosis eines Arzneimittels pro Tag, das für seine Hauptindikation bei Erwachsenen angewendet wird.‘ Am unteren Rand steht der Schriftzug: ‚Robert Koch-Institut‘.„Dunkelblaue Infografik mit Überschrift: ‚Fokus: Access-Antibiotika‘. Darunter Text: ‚Ein zentraler Bestandteil der Strategie ist der verstärkte Einsatz von „Access“-Antibiotika, die von der WHO als erste Wahl bei unkomplizierten Infektionen empfohlen werden. Last month the European Commission authorized a bacteriophage preparation as a feed additive for poultry, which will go into effect this month. This preparation, which is supposed to selectively target 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢, is the first of its kind to be approved by the EU. 1/2 #AMR #PhageTherapy

Earlier this week, the #WHO published an analysis of global antibiotics use based on 2022 data. Only one-third of CTAs meet the goal of 70% Access antibiotic use. Watch antibiotics remain overused, fueling #AMR, while Reserve antibiotics are underused in many LMIC, highlighting access and data gaps.

Week two of the sampling in our #citizenscience project is wrapping up, but the lab work is just getting started🥼🧪. From the first samples, we were already able to isolate a strain that might be an ESBL-producing 𝘌. 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘪🦠🔬. Curious to see what the upcoming samples will bring🤔. #OneHealth

We focus on two additional research pillars: Functional Omics and Aalternative Strategies. Through projects like DISPATch_MRGN and MDR-DEKOL, we are deepening our understanding of resistance development, fitness and virulence factors in order to develop alternative therapies against #AMR bacteria.
