I'm old. If you're not, listen to this. Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder. Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever. It's literally never been more important.

IMO the benefit of the ringbearer being a hobbit was that they're so down to earth they wouldn't CARE about it's power (Frodo being so intrepid is actually an exception) but ALSO so magically weak that if they DID crack they'd be less of a threat. All these characters fit that. ...Except maybe Zoe.

there's an episode of The Simpsons where Marge tries to get a violent cartoon pulled from the airwaves, only to discover that the people backing her aren't going to stop at just the art that *she* doesn't like, and that supporting artistic freedom means accepting discomfort. It aired in 1990.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s okay to share and do what you love, even now—especially now. Things feel really urgent—because they are—but connection and joy matter too. Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean you’re not paying attention. It means you’re human.

We also have jetpacks! But they're called... Well, okay turns out they're just *actual* jetpacks but some people are using them to rescue people from dangerous, isolated locations that are difficult to get to otherwise which is cool as f***

Image from a BBC article of an air-ambulance paramedic in the north of England, a place known as the lake district. He's using an early but fully functional jetpack designed for his work in recusing people at high altitude - consisting of jets on a pack on his back and two on his hands to aid in steering, and wears a red emergency services uniform and a helmet with a visor.

I hate when people say you were born with talent. I didn't fly out of the womb with a tiny pencil in my hand. I mean, that would have been cool, albeit dangerous, but no, I was born without the pencil. I had to spend years and years practicing to get where I am and I still have a lot to learn!
