A mediocre dude condescendingly explaining a core concept to an acknowledged expert who has both embodied and acquired expertise when he has neither? Is the Pope a woman?!!

“We don’t have a government that’s properly staffed,” she said. “All of these things [federal workers do] are really part of making life a little fairer, a little safer for the public. We’ve lost that.” www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/26/n...

DOGE cost the federal government 4 million years of institutional knowledge. These graphs tell the story. - The Boston Globe
Amid Trump’s bureaucracy-slashing directives, the federal workforce shrunk by about 220,000 people in 2025.

Chicago Mayor Issues Defiant Call For A General Strike
It was an audacious proposal, given that the U.S. has never held a true, nationwide general strike.

This is my regular reminder to everyone that jstor is open to the general public now; a free account there will give you access to 100 papers a year.

I probably bring this up every other day? And people have literally waved it off as “old news” type of a thing. Blows my mind.

Firing and demoralizing feminized jobs as enemies of the state while brazenly bribing men with violent jobs that almost instantly puts them into the middle of middle class is very basic gendered warfare. Fulfilling the manosphere’s promise.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

“The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus

A photo I took of the mother of all exiles…including my great-grandparents who passed by her as they arrived to this country. 💛

Robert Watchorn, immigration commissioner appointed in 1905.
An old New York Times clipping from November 19, 1906. The headline reads “Immigration is Wealth, Says Robert Watchorn”. A sub headline reads “commissioner tells audience the door shouldn’t be shut.”Another clipping from the New York Times Article from November 19, 1906. The text reads:

"I believe that the immigrant has done as much for this country as the country has for him. The children or the immigrants who landed here twenty-five years ago are just like the children of those whose forelathers came over a hundred years ago, and the child of the immigrant who comes in to-day will be just as loyal as any of the others, no matter how long ago their parents came over.”

"I never in my life line a steerage passenger who became nationalized that renounced it. They love the flag for what it is and for what it stands for, and also because of the painful recollections they have left behind. It is because of the loyalty of these people that I have so deep and sincere an interest in them. As for yourselves, learn to glve a good account of yourself so that you become a living refutation of the calumny that immigranis don't make good in this country. If you do that you will then have done your part”
