Honestly, that's what tvtropes was and to an extent still is for a lot of people. It was a "GOTCHA!" to show others how smart you were, to them. To show you'd understood things "better" than other people. They were totally ignorant of the whole, willfully so, if they could pick apart a piece.

Even purportedly "nuanced" analyses now spout things like "how can anyone like Marvel movies, it's just the exact same film repeated 20 times!" But if someone tries to do anything new with that IP? Something off beat? People are just desperate to tie it to tropes, cheapening or discarding it.

I don't think it's that weird a take. Over the span of one decade we went from "hey, this story is similar to this other one I really like, I bet I'll enjoy this too!" to "OMG they straight up COPIED THIS it's just crappy FAN FICTION all Hollywood can do is repeat the same tired tropes!"

Oh, this isn't just actor shenanigans (for Halloween the characters all dress as the cast's other standout roles in TV) it's *actual* time travel in the episodes plot and at the end all ambiguity is deliberately removed. In a show with zero supernatural or sci-fi elements. In a regular episode.

It ended with the only central female character having her mind wiped and losing all agency, because of the main characters choices. All presented through the lens of HIS anguish. There's no hyperbole there, either. I wish there was. That's what they chose to do for their lead female character.

Something about the warm environment that makes it limp and slightly stale affects the chemical flavour compounds, and since they aerosolised a Chicken Royale and analysed the flavours at an objective chemical level, it nails it. Which again heightens the incongruous texture, because you're right.

Castle, when it did it's 12 Monkeys time travel episode. They could have still redeemed it, leaving the question ambiguous once the guy disappeared, but no they hammer home that time travel is, in fact, real. On a previously grounded copaganda police procedural. Couldn't watch past that.

And every few crisps you get that limp, warm lettuce. Unmistakably. All in all, it adds up to a strange experience. They're not BAD because a Chicken Royale isn't bad and these taste EXACTLY the same. But at the same time, it's not exactly a pleasant experience to have with the texture of crisps.

At this point you might think "that's great!" but there's something about marrying that perfected flavour with the texture of crunchy Pringles that just feels fundamentally wrong. Your brain is telling you "this is a chicken burger" and your teeth are going "no it fucking isn't!"

When I say exactly, I mean it. The crispy chicken, the tang of the mayo, the toasted bun and the slightly stale, limp lettuce that's been sat in a hot kitchen. It's so accurate that if you close your eyes and eat a crisp, the aftertaste will have you believe you took a bite of a chicken burger.

So, last night I tried these and I need to tell you about the experience. In the past you may've tried some crisps, especially from Walkers, claiming to be a flavour but you feel they miss the mark. Not so here. These taste EXACTLY like you've taken a bite of a Chicken Royale. Which is... odd.
