The river almost resembles smoke at its meeting with the coyote portrait. Two forms occupy the same space, perhaps the same body or mind. Within and behind them, the form of a kestrel in ephemeral blue rises. Red outlines paired with soft blues give the mixed-media piece a vibrating sense of life.

Best advice I ever got in this vein was look at your favorite illustrators and artists then figure out who they were looking at for inspiration, then figure out who THEY were looking at, then pull your references and inspo from those artists. This lack of diving deeper is a problem everywhere sadly
