Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour, giant of resistance art, dies aged 79 aje.news/2xzmvt
Suleiman Mansour was among the Arab world’s most renowned visual artists and the creator of the iconic Palestinian painting Mount of the Bearers. [Courtesy of Sliman Mansour]Rituals under Occupation (1989), one of Suleiman Mansour’s most prominent works, captures the suffering of Palestinians living under occupation and their daily resilience. In this oil painting, a highly symbolic funeral scene unfolds: vast crowds carry the coffin of a Palestinian, draped in the Palestinian flag and depicted as a large cross, evoking the Christian narrative of the crucifixion of Christ. The Last Thing US Healthcare Needs Is an AI Takeover

Can't now find it but there's a classic old tweet which said something like "Every time we're on the verge of achieving class consciousness in America a CIA sleeper agent activates and, their eyes glowing red, they just tweet out "John Brown was a white saviour"" and I think about it often.
Over an article saying that Mamdani will be raising minimum wage for grocery delivery apps in NYC someone comments with a facepalm emoji and says "So if you have ADHD and live in a food desert... you should just... starve. Got it."

This is indeed so deliciously written.
Screenshot of article showing text: “But that comfort wears thin pretty quickly, and I imagine you can see why. In contexts not concerning the elite private colleges of New England and their decades-old conflicts and syllabi and on-campus squabbles, this mode of prestige media procedure matters absolutely and enormously, at scales difficult to tabulate. It’s not hard to call them all to mind: “Climate change is increasingly lethal, though critics say… it is not.” Or, “Israel is murdering journalists in Gaza at historically unprecedented rates, though critics say… it is not.” Or, “Trans people claim to be real, though critics say…””

This is a neat paper ⬇️. 💉
Screenshot of the paragraph reading "When we asked scientists whether a “platform” is a scientific or business entity, all said that it is both things at once. The branding of AdVac made promises (as branding is meant to do) beyond the empiric reality of Ad26, and J&J's 21st century development strategy did everything it could to actualize these promises. When the vector's totalizing potential as an all-purpose “platform” lost credibility, J&J shut down the vast majority of its vaccine development. Platform thinking explains the gap between the many aspirational functions of AdVac and the science of Ad26, which could not keep up."
