I think the reason for attempts at "woke monarchy" in fantasy novels isn't because the fantasy genre is full of crypto-reactionaries, it's because the novel form by definition is about individuals, not mass movements, so you need *someone* to be the protagonist.

I wonder if one reason for fewer culturally-specific transmasculine vs. transfem communities is just that historically speaking, in societies w/enough mobility that leaving your home farm/village to get a job somewhere was a realistic choice, trans men just left home & lived incognito as men.

Would attempts to ban intersex cis girls from k-12 school sports count as disability discrimination? AFAIK, in every other context, you can't ban a kid from a school activity just for having a medical condition, if they can safely participate. And many intersex variations are medical diagnoses.

I think the missing piece in sex scene discourse is that your feelings about sex scenes aren't necessarily a reflection of your values regarding sex/freedom of expression/etc., they could just be a measure of how susceptible you are to second-hand embarrassment.
