In Dame Esther's memory, and in the memory of too many others who have died while fighting for choice, we will not rest until dying people in this country finally have the choice and protection they want and need

Dame Esther was a force of nature whose compassion, tenacity and wit will be greatly missed. We owe her and her daughter Becca a huge debt of gratitude for their tireless efforts to challenge a broken status quo; undoubtedly helping bring the UK closer than ever to a compassionate assisted dying law

My mum wanted the details of her death heard. She strongly believed in the right to die & had a living will. We need to be honest about what death often looks like & that there is often *no* palliative care that can make someone like my mum's death any easier. TW: This thread is a difficult read.

Improving health and social care should be a priority, but it will not remove the need for choice at the end of life. These are not competing priorities, in fact the legalisation of assisted dying and improving end of life care often go hand in hand. Parliament can and must deliver both.
