If I Could Talk to Anyone It'd Be George by Anika Carpenter

Free entry to the NT, BFI, Southbank Centre and the Hayward Gallery, plus all the people watching, and the river... That would keep me busy for a century or so I reckon.

ISSUE 3 IS HERE! In “trans/formative,” @nicowritesbooks.bsky.social explores what it might mean to unmake our bodies and reassemble them into something new and strange and beautiful instead. 🫀 Read the full poem here: othersidespec.com/pieces/trans...
Blurry orange background. White text reads:

Trans/formative by Nico Martinez Nocito

For us to be trans/formative
we must first be trans/formed,
our bodies unspooling from convention so that conviction instead
becomes the messy, sticky substance that drags our bones
       together

and gives meaning to being whole.

Infuriating. Especially (for me) when it's some prat who thinks the 'classic' ghost story was invented by MR James when numerous women like Elizabeth Gaskell, E Nesbitt, Violet Hunt, Amelia Edwards, Edith Wharton, Margery Lawrence etc were writing before, alongside, and after him.
