I was streaming over my self hosted site for movie night yesterday, and it was having more issues than normal. I checked the logs, it was because Meta was pummelling my poor little Raspberry Pi with over 100 requests a minute. It was scraping code from my git website to train their AI. Thanks Meta!

For how much work gets put into video DRM (blocking screenshare, lowering quality on linux, no .mp4 downloads of movie purchases, HDCP), it never actually works. Any movie or TV show has a 4K torrent within hours of its digital release. What's the point? It just punishes those who don't torrent.

Currently living in my alternate universe tech bubble of open source technologies, it's pretty pleasant. My Linux computers don't try to coerce me into using AI chatbots or cloud subscriptions. Feature announcements don't fill me with dread. I have wobbly windows! It's a nice life.

What happens if (or arguably, when) Procreate enshitifies? Will people be able to back up an old version? Prevent it from updating? Pirate it? You can't do that on iOS.

Mobile gaming is so horrendously bad, it deeply frightens me. I don't know what can be done to save it besides regulations, the best grossing games are all comically exploitative. I recently bought a nice controller for my phone, but I think I'll be sticking to emulators and older game ports.

Been working on a 3D version of Edgar as a way to learn Blender, they've turned out great so far! Turns out, Blender is really nice! Currently working on the rig, here's some test expressions!

I feel like the only reason I'm competent with modern Windows is because I used old Windows. If something isn't in the modern settings app, I know where to look based on where it was in the control panel, for example. How hard is it to learn Windows from scratch nowadays with it being so convoluted?
