The Artemis II crew is seeing parts of the Moon not visible from Earth—such as this view of Mare Orientale (the small dark splotch at lower right). The Moon is tidally locked to us, so it rotates around its axis at the same rate it orbits Earth. To see Orientale, you have to be offworld!

Teddy wrenches his neck to look at him. Then he returns to the notebook with reverent fingers. "Oh," he breathes, "these are your promises."
