My cat Lord Peter has been jumping hopefully onto the Big Radiator these past few days, although he's been disappointed as we haven't yet put heating on.

Presumably because of the bicycling.

Or what if I have wrongly remembered the week and that's next week? (Says she, who v nearly went to church today to lead 8am BCP, a week early)

And now, all the small clubs and events on Facebook are advertised with indistinguishable AI-produced graphics.

Attention All Shipping with @charlieconnelly.bsky.social Had a moment realising I'd always parsed 'channel light vessel automatic' as if vessel in question was less heavy than others. Despite knowing what a lightship is from (a)We didn't mean to go to sea (b)rowing past a retired one for years

New cartoon: The RNLI
Cartoon titled “The RNLI: Some of the people they help,” showing six scenarios involving people rescued by the RNLI. Including a man caught by the tide, a YouTuber swimming without preparation, a middle-lane driver, a neighbour with different political opinions, a superyacht owner who forgot to refuel, and people crossing the Channel in a small boat. The final caption reads, “All human beings – all deserve saving.”

But she's still picking up all the satellite TV channels? Hugs and ear scratches from me. She's been through a lot hasn't she!

I have been on holiday, and it was lovely, and now I am home, and tomorrow is the Great River Race, which is the last day of leave.
A brown labradoodle looking intently at an open tray of fish and chips, in the hope perhaps the food might be spilt or somehow otherwise make it magically into his belly This is a picture of Sara dressed in a cap and grey fleece. She is standing in front of a large low stone building and behind the sign for Parc Dewi Sant parkrun. In the background, sea and moody grey sky. In the foreground, my hand holding a lobster roll which was an exceptionally lovely lunch In the foreground, Tim and Sara. Tim is in a red checked shirt and a grey fleece and Sara is in a breton top. Frankly, the same as they are wearing in about a hundred other holiday photos so there's nothing of particular interest there. In the background is engine number 5521 on the Gwili steam railway painted in London Transport maroon. It was painted to mark the anniversary of LT in 2013 and has hauled some vintage excursions on the underground, but now is mainly pootling up and down a short preserved steam railway in Wales.

Without saying your age, what is your favourite movie that came out when you were 20 years old?

Wallaceandgromit Gun
Alt: Wallace, roller skating alongside model railway track, grabs a gun from Feathers McGraw, no longer disguised as a chicken. Feathers is driving the model train.

A logo that reads, "Angel trains" which is a finance company, disappointingly, rather than a heavenly consortium. They say "We invest in innovative and sustainable rolling stock to modernise and improve UK rail, meeting the evolving needs of today’s passengers."

This may have been the root of the problem, using own brand washing up liquid. And what felt like loads but clearly wasn't enough. Thank you.

Vicarage tea party this afternoon. 5 dozen scones and about a tonne(ish) of clotted cream later I am now on the sofa with a glass of wine, grateful for clergy spouse assistance from @timbattsneale.bsky.social and glad to have been able to offer hospitality.

I read the end of the book first so I know what is going to happen, so I don't tend to slow. But I read 'A Life Impossible' last spring and am still periodically revisiting in my head - I was sad to finish the story.

A pedestrian story. I got told to go *#s= myself yesterday by a chap who also threatened to have me arrested... For walking into his wing mirror with my shoulder as he was parked on the pavement. Glad you had a good one today.

People need funerals. They may not need hugely expensive funerals but there are good grief reasons for some kind of farewell ritual, even if it has no religious content.

As an ex librarian I have noticed both libraries and churches suffer from misconceptions that limit people's willingness to even enter - and of course priests and librarians have their own stereotypes - but we have a lot to notice and learn and I might even write about it one day

Why is it, that whichever swimming pool I am at, there's always a splashy front crawl man swimming down the middle of the medium paced lane, overtaking people because he's too fast - but won't swim in the fast lane? Is it the same man, following me about?
