I tend to skip the negatives in my sentences - French's "not" (pas) has no contracted version (n't) and is the only indicator of negation in a sentence. The number of time I confused people is bad. And my record is not getting any better.

Like to acquire the object, or just know about it? I have my great grandpa's wooden hand on my desk. He lost his right hand in the textile shops in New England as part of the French Canadian migration, early 1900s. He sculpted various wooden hands for various tasks. This one is his church hand.

I think one reason, and a grim one, that energy-limiting diseases get so little attention (aside from Covid denialism) is that it’s hard to capitalize on those of us with them. We are mostly very poor because our working ability is limited, we have little buying power and thus,little lobbying power.

Sometimes, to make a point, you conjure a childhood memory and realize, damn, that was an exceptional childhood and there was no way I would have been able to give it to my kids how ever hard I tried. Grandpa was a treasure and the only hope I can have is to be a cool granma too, one day (not now).
