Had fun doing some tier lists for classic Doctor Who. I only have fragmentary experience with lost episodes, so I filed those away into their own tier for 1st and 2nd Doctor.

the quote tweets on this one are a doozy.

a post dated July 30, 2026 from David Brothers. It reads, "I learned 'deadpan sense of humor' from an X-Men comic as a kid and said 'that's my side!' at a very young age. then social media came along and my life has been complete hell on earth ever since

My drafts are a sea of boring stuff, things that get a little personal, and mildly hotter takes than normal.

1st Post:
"Maybe Scrooge was right"
Maybe public domain characters can have a fate worse than being made into a bad horror

2nd post:
After the Switch 2 comes the Pokémon game catchup.
In the mail:
-Let's Go Pikachu
-Shield
-Shining Pearl
-Legends Arceus

3rd post:
I haven’t even seen Gundam, but someone at work said they talked to "Char" and my brain's just:

3rd post:
I'm thinking the aspect ratio concerns with IMAX films are just a temporary gimmick.
Still, it's tempting to imagine that everyone could be upgrading their widescreens to IMAX home theater systems in the future.

4th Post:
Just an image of a store called “BluSky”

5th Post:
Had another paint night recently, this time with a U.S. flag theme where stars of the night sky stand in for the stars of the flag. There's no shortage of complicated feelings with that, but this is how it turned out.

6th Post:
I can't wait to receive Ultra Artworks in October, but I'm a little bummed that it looks like it's called "Ultra W" when viewed as a thumbnail/far away.

7th Post

In defense of U.S. style date notation (MM/DD/ YY), it makes sense if you start from how we casually communicate dates to each other (e.g.
"My birthday is January 8th"). When it doesn't include the year, it's a logical month → day order. When we need to include the year, it's most natural to keep that order and append the year at the end.

8th Post
See, my problem with using quotation marks for anything other than extended direct speech is that they always feel like scare quotes, even when used appropriately.

9th Post
I know Utah is "used to" hosting unglamorous, land guzzling mega projects (like the enormous open pit copper mine or areas for testing rockets/weapons). I'm a fairly pragmatic person, but I truly can't fathom the mindset that thinks building a data center the size of a city is OK.

10th Post:

Dealing with a lot of questions about 2025 overtime because of the new tax exemption and just pointing to the IRS website since I can't give tax advice. But pretty much no one understands what is actually exempt and I hope it doesn't turn into disaster.

11th Post:
It's February 18th and I am shoveling snow for the first time this winter.
(Should be a routine occurrence from
Thanksgiving to St. Patrick's Day)

Some distinct “Great Explosion Murder God” vibes from the name of this Pliosaur

Pliosaur skeleton made from fossil casts hanging from the ceiling.

A sign labeling the fossil “Great Swimming Lizard King”.
The note also reads: “This reptile lived in the Sundance Sea, which covered most of Wyoming during the late Jurassic period. This is an example of the largest Pliosaur ever to live in Wyoming.”

Shout out to the Tate Geological Museum in Casper. Had some time to kill and they have a lot of neat fossils.

Wide view of the display room. Reconstructions of Torosaurus and T-Rex skulls are in the foreground and a Columbian Mammoth skeleton in the background.

The Torosaurus skull has some pieces missing. It’s on a special armature so that individual bones can be removed for study. Some of the bones are 3D printed based off the existing symmetrical bone.

I’m a touch too claustrophobic to tour caves without a friend for moral support, so I hiked a couple of trails instead. One was a climb up to this watchtower.

A line of evergreen trees at the top of a ridge, with a small watchtower rising from behind.

View from the base of the tower looking up flights of stairs within the metal frame.

Hard to say no to a dinosaur park.

Statues of a T-Rex and a triceratops face off against each other, reminiscent of a JJBA “Oh? You’re approaching me?” meme

A very tall allosaurus stands at the top level of the park, overlooking Rapid City. A spiral mosaic plaza is in front of it.

Had to stop by Crazy Horse Memorial. When I saw it as a kid, there was just the suggestion of an outstretched arm. But now there’s a detailed hand! And thd upper part of the horse’s mane!! And the cylindrical shape of the horse’s head is starting to emerge!!!

View of the Crazy Horse Memorial from the welcome center. There’s a giant crane rising from behind, indicating active work on the unfinished memorial.

Some of the critters caught in the wild. Saw a bunch of antelope too, but they were too far away to get a meaningful photo.

Badlands isn’t so bad. A lot more variety of scenery than I expected.

Panoramic view from an overlook of the fin-like rock formations.

Sandstone hives way to green prairie before meeting the partly-cloudy sky at a nearly flat horizon.

An isolated, squat pillar of rock rises above the grassland.

A wall of pointed rock rises behind foreground trees. Overcast skies mute the colors.

It’s wild and awe-inspiring that a place like Devils Tower exists.

Iconic front view of Devils Tower from the road. It sits atop a mound of earth sparsly covered with evergreen trees. The sky is a clear blue.

A long overdue purchase of Shuhei Miyazaki’s Promised Neverland gag spinoff volume. His depiction of Mom is basically proto-Roboco

A panel from the manga with dialogue in Japanese. On the right is a round-faced Mom doing an idol pose (peace sign over a winking eye, hand on hip, cutesy star at the end of her dialogue). On the left is the reaction of Emma and Norman hiding under the cart, horrified at Mom’s lighthearted attitude.

Happened to catch the brightest rainbow I’ve seen in a long time.

A double rainbow arcs over a housetop. The bottom rainbow is very bright and the top rainbow much dimmer. Dark clouds fill the sky above the inner rainbow, but clouds are brighter underneath.

A couple examples from My Hero Academia. The series as a whole is influenced by North American comics and All Might has heavy American coding. Not sure how much that influences things, but it’s Japanese people in Japan.

A closeup panel of All Might saying “Shit!!” in Roman letters with katakana subtitle.

Two human figures, one tied up sitting on the floor and one standing by pushing a ball to a target on the tied-up figure’s shoulder. The standing figure says “Yaayy!” And the tied-up figure says “F*ck” in Roman letters.

This was always going to be an unsurprising result, but it’s nice to get the U.S. total comparison. The section where it reveals which answers were the biggest tells is also cool.

A heat map in the shape of the United States where redder shades are more similar to how I speak and bluer shades are more dissimilar. Reddest areas are around Utah and the Pacific Northwest . Bluest ares are Louisiana and the Deep South .

The result test reads: “You talk most like someone from Utah - about 60% of your answers match a typical resident.”

Answers that point most strongly to Utah:

Q: What do you call the little gray creature (that looks like an insect but is actually a crustacean) that rolls up into a ball when you touch it?
A: potato bug

Q: What is your
*general* term for a big road that you drive relatively fast on?
A: a freeway has limited access (no stop lights, no intersections), whereas a highway can have stop lights and intersections

Q: What do you call the thing from which you might drink water in a school?
A: drinking fountain

Q: What do you call a traffic situation in which several roads meet in a circle and you have to get off at a certain point?
A: roundabout.
