Teased story reads:
She fumbles to yank her skirt down, but it’s too late. Columbina leans against the doorframe, humming in a way Sandrone knows means trouble. She doesn’t need to see Columbina’s eyes to know she noticed.
"You could knock," she scowls, shoving the sheath onto the table beside her.
Columbina smiles. "But then I’d miss the fun."
"It’s not fun. It’s—"
"Research?" Columbina glides forward and crouches beside Sandrone’s chair, head tilted curiously. "Does it work?"

Teased story reads:
She was radiant like that. Perhaps a strange thought to have when her behavior was so sour and gloomy, but Columbina had long since learned it was often best to discard logic when it came to the marionette. Not least because that got under her skin the most, until she was howling “Columbina” so loudly that the palace guards were gossiping about it the next morning.
A fresh smile bloomed upon Columbina’s face at that thought.
There was a moment where just that was enough.

The sneer on Sandrone’s face melts into a scowl. Oooookay. So not just a weird name, but a weirdo in general. Greeeaaat, just what the dorms needed. And she still hasn’t taken off those stupid sunglasses of hers, despite being indoors, in the dead of night. For some reason, that annoys Sandrone more than anything else. What is her deal? Seriously. Is it some sort of hipster thing to just wear your shades at all times now or–

Oh.

The rain has dwindled to a fuzzy mist by now, slow droplets of water falling from the awning in a rhythmic drip-drop-drip, the clouds thinning to allow the watery afternoon light to filter through. They're mostly dry by now, though there are still a few droplets of rain caught on Xingqiu’s lashes. He reaches to wipe them off his face with his sleeve before starting. “Oh, your jumper–”
“Keep it,” Chongyun says. “You know I never wear it anyway.”
Xingqiu looks as though he’s going to protest, but he doesn’t, just shuffles closer so his head is resting on Chongyun’s shoulder.

The writer's excerpt reads:
Sighing, Phainon slowly pushes the covers away before standing up, slipping his feet into 2 odd slippers: one of Clocky’s, Penacony’s mascot, as far as Stelle told him, and the other being cheap hotel slippers she’d likely nicked from somewhere. Shuffling down the stairs, he bumps into Mydei, who expertly manoeuvres two glasses of something pink away from him.
“Well, hello there, sleepyhead.” he teases, leaning forward a little to kiss Phainon on the cheek. “Finally awake?”
“Halfway there,” Phainon chuckles, peering over his lover’s (lover?!) shoulder to see the ‘problem’ that needed delivering from in the first place.

That time, though, she had to be reading too much into it, because there was no other way to square it with her own invitation.
