Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 14hMontgomerie should be ashamed of himself. Simpering suckup to Farage, realising his mistake when the party looks shot to pieces . How can any right thinking person join that rabble of racists. Reminds me of when Andrew Neil realised what GB news actually was 040

Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 13/10/2026There is no excuse for crappy maps. and some of Miguel's examples are egregious. I was approached by someone who proudly showed me their intereactive wine map that was riddled with errors. When I quizzed them on how they made it they proudly told me Claude drew all the regions. 130
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Miguel nails it. As an amateur wine-region cartographer, AI generated wine maps are a huge bugbear. Accurate map files for these Spanish regions are freely available for use in mapping software. For wine professionals to publish this garbage is lazy in the extreme and an insult to these regions. 052
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 20/09/2026This is incredible amount of work. I can't believe they've actually gone and done the whole world. 121

Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 29/08/2026very sad we chose this day to go to Lords. We decided not to travel in 110
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 26/08/2026If it is AI it's ridiculously lazy but not lazy. There must be so many stock photos of this exact scene. 000
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 26/08/2026None of them are looking at each other which is both an AI flag and also against the rules of a cheers. 100
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 26/08/2026My 1001 Albums generator which suggests a random album to listen to every day, has suggested Trio by Dolly Parton. I wonder if someone has been tinkering behind the scenes... 000
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 25/08/2026I love these wines. And the labels do stand out. It's great to see innovation from Portugal 020
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I love Dambach-la-ville! I have some good friends there and in Scherwiller next door. Your grandfather's name wasn't Dietrich by any chance? 110
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 24/07/2026I've been playing around with Google Earth Pro (soon to RIP) to show the various subregions of Rias Baixas. Thought I would post the results. Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Have you tried the mobile tether trick? Only works if you have infinite roaming data on your mobile plan mind 110
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 22/07/2026I finished this recently on holiday in the New Forest. I kept a pencil with me while readin to highlight all of the quotes I can use in my classes. So much fun to read. Great article Henry! 010
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 09/07/2026I still remember "Pere Julien" red fondly. Only 10 Francs from the local campsite store. In a litre plastic bottle, a jolly monk on the label and perfect for the time and place. 120

Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 06/07/2026I really enjoy the Petrus Aged Pale which is a far drier acidic beer. I believe Michael Jackson had a lot to do with that one. 110
Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 06/07/2026And coincidentally, Orval and some other Belgian beers is brewed with Brett! (One of the other wine conversations on here is currently about wine faults) 120

Sam Hill @samwesthill.bsky.social · 19/06/2026I brought back a VORS Amontillado from my visit to Serdio. An incredible wine. I’ll revisit the value discussion when I open it. Drinking it will make me feel better about the price. 110
