Should council tenants take seats on their apartment complexes' owners' management companies, when council staff don't? Social tenants, including children, are often locked out of communal areas in their complexes. Would it help if they were represented at the OMCs' meetings?

The council is taking another run at building Clontarf flood defences, launching a tender for a design team. The tender document for the design says the framework has a maximum estimated value of €7.5 million. It also gives a tentative construction estimate of €25 million.

That's fair enough. I will also advise the good people of the Merrion Square area that if they want a new tearooms, they should pool their money, find land and build one. Or at least rent a nearby retail space and bring in a contractor to run it. (Instead of depending on the council.)

Yeah, that's right, good point :-/ And on that front, actually, things have got worse. One of the few big (non-housing) projects for the council's North West Area (Finglas-Ballymun, basically) seems to have stalled out.

Just thinking about these two stories next to each other: 1. In Darndale Park, a football club and a parkrun have been displaced by horses, and some locals have been asking for stables. Nothing yet. 2. In D2, the council is spending €7.5m on a new tearoom in Merrion Square, an area short of cafes?
