And Birmingham needs to commemorate its reggae history in some way. Top work on the sleeve notes again @petepaphides.bsky.social

This is the 2nd reggae compilation of long lost music I’ve received from @needlemythology.bsky.social in as many weeks. It’s so good again. I knew nothing about Natrus, but 2 takeaways for me: what an amazing human bassist Beverley Stewart is 1/2

The latest @needlemythology.bsky.social release (and I think their first reggae one) is so good. Pass The Dutchie is a classic, but this is something else. Proper roots reggae. The sleeve notes by @petepaphides.bsky.social are excellent. Reminded me why I love my city so much ❤️

Latest @needlemythology.bsky.social arrived today. Sound F-A-B. Big fan of 80s post punk/psychedelia stuff from Liverpool so nice to add to my collection.

Nick Grimshaw is doing an excellent show this morning to honour Bowie. The music choices are spot on.

Has anyone else noticed the Paul Daniels sample on the new Mobb Depp album? I always thought the Wizbit theme was a big influence on hip hop #musicsky

Great night Pete. Mike was lovely and funny and clearly a fan of the band he was in. It also reminded me of the time I saw Julian and someone called him a pretentious c***. His response was to jump in to the audience, find the offender and threaten to lick them!

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 13/11/2025

Fantastic evening listening to Mike Joyce talk about his time with The Smiths. What a warm and funny guy. Can’t wait to read the book.

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 06/11/2025

@petepaphides.bsky.social just read the Ted Chippington piece and enjoyed it. Made me think of my favourite part of the King Rocker film they arrange an interview with him and he doesn’t turn up, they leave that part in and just show an old interview instead. Very Ted.

How far do you think hip hop has come on since you met Snoop to discuss sexism in a lot of the lyrics?

You’ve already upset the radio police 10 minutes in to the show. Rock n roll!

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 15/09/2025

Get yourself to the @selfesteem.music-social.com shows if you can. Amazing (supported by Moonchild Sanelly too!)

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 14/09/2025

The underrated one in that run of albums. I love it.

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 31/08/2025

You want some fackin’ tea do ya???

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 30/08/2025

The latest @needlemythology.bsky.social release. I love the love they show for their releases #music

There’s a certain type of hip hop that sounds brilliant on hot days. This is just that type.

The show tonight is giving off the vibe of being in the coolest New York club circa 1971 (I’m not though, I’m in the front room perusing through the New Statesman)

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 28/07/2025

This is a really lovely chat Pete. So insightful and gently funny.

Can’t wait to watch. That theme tune though. Needs to be spoken in the same sentences as Kendrick with that flow.

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 05/06/2025

New @needlemythology.bsky.social release arrived today. A Journey with the Montgolfier Brothers. Gorgeous sounds and added bonus of a signed postcard which I wasn’t expecting. What a lovely label and band ❤️

👍 Good. I think he was on to something.

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 02/06/2025

It was a bit blue! I don’t want the show getting taken off the airwaves.

I do hope Michael shares his theory on Leo Sayer’s When I Need You as discussed at your Broken Greek show in Brum all those years ago!

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 23/05/2025

Gonna sound really grumpy here, but I just do not understand the appeal of this song. I think 1997 is one of the worst years in music #totp

Rob @samtherapy.bsky.social · 23/05/2025

Dadrock might be the worst genre of music ever #totp

Can I shock you? I quite like that version of Perfect Day #totp

Dug this out. When people ask me who my favourites are I always say Bowie and The Clash. But the band I feel most passionate about is always Kevin Rowland and the various versions of Dexys. I would love to have seen them live on this tour. #music #dexys
