I hear this. For about 10 years, I was a travelling consultant - 5 star hotels, exotic locations, never having to pay for food or drink. It was fun, but similarly as soon as my first child was on their way, I had just come back from NZ and changed jobs to working from home or at London clients.

It's a weird place as the long range ones were expensive, but you can buy used, but the newest ones are now just as good and half the price, so they are costing about the same. You would either want an amazing used bargain or see if the new ones have the range for a good price.

Mine does 320 miles and is 2 years old - my threshold was 300+ miles as that is about 6 hours of long distance driving. To be honest I would have to stop at least once or twice and could just charge up when stopping, but never done more than 300 in one journey (South London to West Wales).

I watched this in the cinema when I came out - almost everyone walked out because it was too graphic and I don't think they were ready for it.

I'm normally South, but recently took my family to a game in North middle and it was great. Behind was a large area for wheelchair users which was quiet and there was a bar and set of toilets that were empty even at half time and full time (people didn't seem to realise they were for anyone).

I am not sure. The main thing in my favour is that nowhere is as expensive as London, generally speaking!

That is the irony now for me - having settled in London to only have a 15 min commute, I've been remote for 7 years now. If my kids were not settled in good schools, I would move right now, but as it is, I will probably wait 10 years.

I did have to put in some hard yards at the start - my commute into London from the countryside way outside of London was 2.5 hours. I commuted 5 hours a day to save money and buy a cheap house. If I could have worked from home I would have been quids in!

Yes, it is really bad - I was lucky to have bought a property in my mid-20s to build up capital to then use as a deposit in London (and even then, I found a good house that needed a ton of work, but just by owning it the value increased a lot anyway). Hard to get on the ladder at all now!

London is so crazy that it was much cheaper for me to buy a house with a long mortgage than to rent. Monthly payments were less then half.

The UK does have location problems (and maybe it's similar in cities like Sydney?). You get paid more in London, but rent might be £3k a month, i.e. £36k a year, so you need to make sure you earn enough to pay that + all of the bills, food, kids stuff and everything else.

Well, just under 60%, but when you add in the hidden tax that people don't mention is that over £100k they take away the tax-free personal allowance, which essentially is an extra tax on top of the taxed salary.

The proliferation of cheap products means they are designed to be replaced quickly. Finding good quality is harder than it used to be unless you stick with your trusted brands and unfortunately some previously trusted brands have gone downhill in quality too.

When you add in NI, a lot of people are paying a lot, but still get crappy services.
