you know the movie rules: When somebody looks you in the eye and, instead of explaining, just says "I need you to trust me," you have no choice.

I have a buddy who was so mad that the Dodgers got Kyle Tucker that he hasn't watched a single MLB game this year. With the Dodgers wobbling in the LCS, he's decided to watch them topple over. Could be an incredible stepping-on-four-rakes decision for him.

Here's the root of Ohtani's slump. Is there time to fix it?
Shohei Ohtani will be in the Game 3 lineup on Wednesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. That it was ever even a question otherwise tells you a whole lot about how badly things have gone lately for...

I think the Dodgers lineup fell off an aging cliff and, while still very good, is not as good as the projections would say. That and perhaps some motivated reasoning get me to Brewers in a tight one.

1. Every team makes the playoffs 2. The first round (League Qualification Series) is eight games long 3. Results of these playoff games will be combined with regular season records to determine playoff seeding and which teams move on to second round (Wild Card round).

This actually seems to be largely because way more groundballs back then were spotted where the outfielder picked them up, instead of where they left the infield. See groundball hits, 2017 vs 2026

sometimes it's a ball that deflected off the pitcher or defender; sometimes it seems to be tracking errors, though I'm not the expert on that process
