i had company for day 2, we rode up Mt Madonna (average 9% grade fully loaded was pretty cool), and now we’re on VTA 68 from Morgan Hill to Diridon will probably solo bikepack some more, and the new brighton state beach site is fantastic - $5 bike-in site, tons of space

I walked the Washington underpass. Walking that sidewalk is so scary - because of cars! Drivers are going 50+ on 5th St and there is ZERO visibility going west on Washington, especially on the sidewalk.

one cool thing they do a lot of here is put a nice speed hump right before a crosswalk. I imagine it’s cheaper than building a well-graded raised crosswalk and accomplishes the same traffic calming goal, even if it isn’t *quite* as good (they also build great raised crosswalks)
