Imagine if instead of making COVID isolation guidelines as weak as the flu... We approved combo rapid tests like this and made them free and available for everyone... So that people could tell how long they need to isolate based on science and not feelings, whatever the pathogen.

Today the Alabama Supreme Court made IVF essentially illegal by declaring un-implanted embryos “human children.” What happens in a red state never stays in a red state (see: the Dobbs decision that started in MS) - we can’t ignore these places.

COVID advocacy groups are doing an incredible job on extremely limited resources pushing back on potential changes to the CDC's COVID isolation guidelines. But where are the labor unions? Forcing people back to work when they are sick is a critical labor issue.

Opinion: Covid isn’t over, and we shouldn’t act like it is

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s potential loosening of coronavirus isolation guidelines is a reckless, anti-public health policy that goes against science, encourages disease spread and puts everyone at greater risk. The bare minimum we should have learned from a devastating pandemic that has killed and disabled millions is that we should stay home when we are sick. Yet, inexplicably, by caving in to corporate interests, governments are encouraging people to not even do the bare minimum.

The truth is that covid is still killing and disabling way too many people, and too many people are locked out of society and can’t even access medical care safely because of high levels of covid transmission. We still need science-based isolation guidance, and we need better public health protections.

The CDC wants to stop telling people to isolate for five days when they are sick with COVID. This is a reckless, anti-public health policy that contravenes science, increases disease spread, and puts everyone at greater risk.
