Firing Dan won’t fix the lack of spending the front office is guilty of. My feeling is Dan cost us 10-15 wins this season however. I haven’t been shy about wanting him replaced. Time will tell and I don’t mean to sound like the fox who can’t reach the grapes.

You can’t put it all at his feet, but he was part of the problem. It was his job to solve the problems we faced by putting the players in the right positions. It clearly didn’t happen and was magnified by how bad the AL was and how good we were supposed to be.

He was hired to appease a fan base when they pivoted from Servais. He wasn’t the answer then, and this season was the proof: He didn’t have the chops to call out the team coming into the season or during it. He made questionable in game decisions. He lacked the depth to build and hold accountable.

1996 is always the worst for me. The team that set the record for most HR hit in a season by a team (until broken by the twins). Led by Bobby Ayala that pitching staff derailed the best offense the game had seen. That season is second (for me) to this season, 1998 third worst. So many choices!
