there was a bit of extra space available. Ultimate used the remaining 7K of cartridge space to store the original loading screen to use as a startup screen. Imagine if that 7K was used to add more gameplay features instead! It would have been another good reason to bolster the appeal of the carts,

The ZX ROM cartridges should have achieved more back in the day. With the 10 ROM games being adapted from 16K ZX Spectrum games they were actually only ~9K of code (due to the rest of the 16K's RAM being used for screen memory, BASIC loader etc). But the ROM cart could hold a full 16K of code

And don't forget about my other #RC2014 / RCbus & compatibles sound antics! 2020 - released my SID Soundchip Interface to bring the famous #C64 soundchip to more #Z80 systems. 2021 - released my ZXTT module, for Ed's YM/AY RC2014 soundcard, to clock it identically to that of the 128K #ZXSpectrum.

I seem to be interested in cartridges decades after they were cool! 😁 In 2019 I made an interface to use the ZX Spectrum ROM Cartridges on the SAM Coupe, following that later in 2022 with an interface to use VIC-20 ROM Cartridges on the SAM as well. www.samcoupe.com #SAMCoupe #ZXSpectrum #VIC20
