There is no 'zero guns' utopia. That doesn't exist. That will not exist. Get it out of your head. So who would you rather see armed? Self defense exists on a communal and personal level. These are things. Understand them because the people you don't like do understand it, and are already armed.

This idea is one of those things that a specific group of people on the left just kind of don't connect. If the police are corrupt & evil, why do you want them to be the only people armed? If there are violent extremists who want to harm you why aren't you also armed to defend yourself from them?

There's this now old saying in politics that came out of the 90s: It's the economy stupid. If the political class doesn't want to piss people off, do everything in their power to not fuck up the economy. We've seen the opposite in the last couple of years.

So I'm watching this and this would make my late father proud. He was a wrench turner and would fabricate trikes out of small car engines. I have set points with him growing up multiple times on old VW and Subaru engines from the 70s and 80s. You explained it very well for non-car people.

I lived in Missouri for a majority of my life. The Democratic party there exists in power in two cities and are spiteful towards the state government and everywhere but those two cities. They're genuinely idiots who try to act like Missouri is Massachusetts and see everything else as backward.

I now own a used Honda Pilot that needed a good bit of love and maintenance, but should keep running for a long time and my next pickup will probably be a Toyota Tundra, if they keep the V8 and keep the turbo off. I occasionally haul 10-12k lb trailers and actually use my truck.

Unfortunately GM has now started making such a crap product, this alone might not save them. My late father was a mechanic and an GM shop foreman for a time. We were a GM wrench turning family. My 2013 Silverado is my last GM vehicle, despite only having GM vehicles until this year.

There's nothing automatically illegal about developing your own drugs and then testing them on yourself without any form of retail or forced use. There's entire classes of experimental drug users, they're called psychonauts. These drugs tend to also still be legal. Crazy, but not illegal.

This is accurate. Even if you're selling food online, the menu on the left is simple and clean. It has it's own vibe. The small food businesses I frequent aren't flashy, but do serve good food. I don't want more AI slop in my food advertising and you're not 2010 Dennys.

AI has a place in a lot of places. It could be a useful speech to text look up tool inside operating rooms, fed actual good vetted info or useful in financial fraud detection software and the like. Helping botanists with clean categorization of tomatoes or whatever, but that's a different pitch.

Right, it's a tool and a tool with specific applications with safeguards and bumpers in place. The more generalized it gets the more garbage it gets fed and techbros being techbros they crank up the hype machine for VC funding and rope in business leaders with the 'fell for it again' award.

Contrary to the often fear based narratives, the violent crime rate has plummeted after decades of downtrend. Americans simply aren't killing each other as often as people think they are from news and media cycles. Despite everything you hear, we live in one of the safest times ever.

Even the most ardent reality based vegans I've talked to said this was a terrible idea and wouldn't do what people claimed as a positive. Pest control ban was in this bill. For people who don't understand, if you want mice/rat based plagues, this is how you get them. Pest control is necessary.

I live 30 miles from town. I have good reliable electric for the most part. I don't see it being an issue with a 200 mile range. Working on buying a place here first, but a small electric pickup for country life suits me fine and I can use my full size less and burn less gas.

The sticker price is what most people think of when they think of the cost of the car. Not the budget/maintenance on the vehicle. Since Slate came out lower, people are upset. I think it's a neat idea and I'd like to get one. It won't replace my pickup, but trips into town/groceries it's fine.

I will say All Quiet on the Western Front does probably the best job showing the reality of young people in war in the context of a huge chunk of your soldiers being like 18-21 year olds and in non-modern times humans were simply smaller in almost every way. Lack of calories makes small people.

Right but Hollywood doesn't make documentaries. We have always replaced reality with pretty people who fit the current cultural desired body type. I don't have a dog in this fight, I just understand that objectively mankind is uglier than what we portray in movies across the board.

Hell, Aliexpress boards from China with software loaded for 20 bucks and 10 minutes of work can circumvent this horseshit. It also will, just like it's done with the glock switches. What is happening here is 'these things are bad because they're bad' which is law logic, not reality logic.

Walled gardens in tech rarely work the way people who know nothing about tech think they do. All you're creating is yet another black market and one that is so difficult to control, the efforts are effectively meaningless. An afternoon learning Klipper circumvents all of this. One day.

Be sure to use Al when making your next, I don't know, meal plan, for example. Definitely do not call your friend who loves to cook and ask her for her favorite recipes or tips or ways to save time making meals, because you will end
up talking for longer than you had hoped, hearing, perhaps, about her father's cancer diagnosis or how lonely she's been or even what she's planted in her spring garden and then lost with the early frost.
