There's this now old saying in politics that came out of the 90s: It's the economy stupid. If the political class doesn't want to piss people off, do everything in their power to not fuck up the economy. We've seen the opposite in the last couple of years.

So I'm watching this and this would make my late father proud. He was a wrench turner and would fabricate trikes out of small car engines. I have set points with him growing up multiple times on old VW and Subaru engines from the 70s and 80s. You explained it very well for non-car people.

This is accurate. Even if you're selling food online, the menu on the left is simple and clean. It has it's own vibe. The small food businesses I frequent aren't flashy, but do serve good food. I don't want more AI slop in my food advertising and you're not 2010 Dennys.

Contrary to the often fear based narratives, the violent crime rate has plummeted after decades of downtrend. Americans simply aren't killing each other as often as people think they are from news and media cycles. Despite everything you hear, we live in one of the safest times ever.

I spent a lot of time today in heat & humidity and wildfire smoke doing stuff until I had that shoulders to groin sweat stain thing. However, all of the brush is burned, the cardboard is burned, the property is mowed and trimmed, the front porch is clean & the garden is good.

Walled gardens in tech rarely work the way people who know nothing about tech think they do. All you're creating is yet another black market and one that is so difficult to control, the efforts are effectively meaningless. An afternoon learning Klipper circumvents all of this. One day.

I live out in the country, I enjoy living out in the country, but tick season is truly upon us. Get permethrin and picardin and learn how to use them effectively. Also, if you have deer, racoons, or other woodland critters you see, you likely have ticks. They can carry lyme. Use caution.

This honestly makes sense. We have cars, we're a car culture, our parking lots are filled with mostly empty space most of the time. Why not do this? Make every drive in cover at Sonic in the US a solar generator. Maybe the food will get better.

I bought two guns this month, much less in the past two years. If two guns is 'an arsenal' then every gun owner has an arsenal. Two guns in huge swaths of the US is 'We're not really into guns'. My sister and her partner fall into this. Inherited a couple of shotguns and an old 22 revolver.

Playing around with a new raised bed planter I have on my back deck. Transplanted some bush beans and will trellis them next week once I know they're established. Have a warm front coming my tomatoes, peppers and beans are going to love. My radishes will not.

For anyone who doesn't know about engines, this is a great video to learn about the basics of gas engines. Oil matters a LOT. Vehicles are very complicated. Follow maintenance schedules. Check your oil. Replace your oil. If you drive any internal combustion engine, watch this.
