Furry is often a queer space. But more than that, it's people who need other people. There a lot of folk who end up here that fall through the cracks of society. Not always, but it happens. I need someone to care for them like they cared for me sometimes.

Anyone who has been a furry as long as I have has lost people. Illness. Suicide. Tragedy. Even drifting off to be someone or something else. But often, their FA pages act as altars. Memorials to the impact they had through art and connection.

I think a lot has been righteously said about furaffinity as a bastion of internet freedom, art, and a community space, but at least for me something unspoken as part of that last one is FA is an altar. It stands in memory of people we've lost through tragedy, accident, and neglect.

I tried using my phone's built-in screen reading feature but it made the entire phone's UI harder/unintuitive to interact with and kept reading fragments of text I wouldn't expect it to read on a loop and I accidentally closed all apps in the process of trying to switch it back off immediately.

fur affinity has been running for 21 years, is one of the largest archives of queer art online, and one of the few art sites that has not switched to some kind of infinite feed bullshit and it's being strangled over "adult" art. suspiciously wealthy furries now is your time to paypig for culture

What makes this situation frustrating is that the bar for what advertisers consider “adult content” is very very low. For example they consider plus size characters, two characters hugging, and “barbie doll nudity” to be adult content, despite these being normal everyday things that are not adult at all. This is why you may see other sites with restrictions on how characters can’t be posed or dressed “too provocatively.”

We receive a daily list of items that they have flagged as violations and have to sort through them. If they’re legitimate violations, we re-rate them. If they aren’t, we don’t touch them. Submissions that are not violations of our policies are still held against us.

We have had many email conversations, Zoom calls, and even an in-person meeting with representatives to help resolve this to no avail.

This is saddening and it's frustrating me to no end. I worked hard to make a version that, while having designs that were very suggestive, could be distributed in all markets. Now, it's being treated like an Adult Only title and pulled from availability in two big markets, including my host country.

I can live with that, but it's a bummer, especially after making two different versions of the game for the sake of avoiding a 18+ rating. I ask myself why I even bothered, at this point. I queried Valve for clarifications and I hope this can be fixed soon, but I'm not holding my breath.
