If you speak or are learning #Esperanto, a weekend event is a great way to take the leap and get to the next level. Space is going fast for this event. Yesterday there were three cabins available and this morning there were two. If Pennsylvania is too far, look for something closer.

One danger of looking for Esperanto references on Blue Sky is that you are exposed to all sorts of content from would-be "creators" in sometimes painfully bad Esperanto. "Ni komencigos la serio". It burrrns. It really does. And yet, I'm supposed to smile and pretend I never saw what I can't unsee.

When Esperanto speakers say stuff like this, we make ourselves look "ridindaj" (ridiculous). Who in the history of the world has ever chosen a language like this? And after speaking Esperanto almost 30 years, I'm not sure it's even true?

When picking a language, think about the ceiling. After 1,500 hours of Esperanto, you’ve more or less mastered it. With Spanish, it’s endless. After 3,000 hours, you’re still discovering regional phrases and cultural nuances.

You don’t need to be fluent to travel confidently. Drop the generic language apps that force you through months of grammar before you can even order a coffee. For travel, aim for phrase-based competence. You just need to handle food, transport, directions, and basic emergencies. #languagelearning
