2/2 I want to assume Spanberger knows this and is just trying to make sure VA remains a hotbed for data center buildouts for tax reasons, but at the very least she should be pushing for making sure the grid can handle them and moreover actually comply with local noise and pollution laws

Words cannot express how depressed I am with this. Storage/cloud-focused datacenters, like the ones that littered NoVa for the last 20 years, consume fractions of the amount of power and resources that AI-focused (aka gpu compute-focused) ones do because they're doing entirely different jobs. 1/2

This isn't something I would normally do, but friends have told me I should at this point because I need to get out of my current apartment for my own safety. They reminded me stuff like GoFundMe exists for a reason. Due to character limits, more details in the link, thank you gofund.me/dd1319216

For a lot of furries I know, the holidays are the hardest time of the year, myself included. It makes sense someone would want to be with the family they chose rather than the one they were born into.

Rebecca Heineman is probably best known for coding 3DO Doom from zero in 10 weeks after being told it just needed "polish" - the licensee didn't understand what porting involved. Since hearing that story, she's someone I've looked up to a lot. Now, she's got a different struggle...

Sadly DDG fails for me the second I need something that's even remotely niche. It's almost impossible to do image searches since they auto search what they think you meant no matter what operators you use.

Kagi has been the only thing for me that comes close. Even then, it pales in comparison to how things used to be before SEO and Ai sites ruined everything.

That's been the biggest worry to me. I had to help a friend of mine with some bankruptcy stuff and he was freaking tf out over it and I only found out later that he was unintentionally getting Ai summary results that didn't apply to his case. Dude went through hell over nothing.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge? It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Have you tried Recuva? If it has physical issues, then i second the data recovery because HDDs are usually easy to get data off of. Just make sure to read reviews and contact them beforehand

I want to go home so bad. I want to see my friends again. I don't want to be scared anymore. But when your friend threatened to r*pe you if he ever saw you irl, another invalidated your trauma, another tried to manipulate you into abusing someone else, then how can I not be constantly on guard?

100

Salem Phoenix @salemthekit.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

I don't wanna believe it's as simple as the bullied becoming the bullies but WOW could that explain so much. You literally did more work trying to drum up their emotions so you could have an excuse to enjoy their tears. This isn't justice when you tried to find reasons to make them the bad guy.

100

Salem Phoenix @salemthekit.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

How can I trust anyone anymore? How many broken promises can someone take until they realize that it's not a bunch of mistakes or flukes or misunderstandings anymore? Why does everything gotta be so high-strung where one show of vulnerability labels them as a "problem" and justifies your behavior?

100

Salem Phoenix @salemthekit.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

Then the worst part was when one of you questioned me overworking myself taking care of these people. The only reason I did so much of that work was because YOU were the one causing these problems that I suddenly had to solve because I was the only one "brave" enough to talk to them.

100

Salem Phoenix @salemthekit.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

Man, for one of you specifically, the fact that you could justify what you said behind their back to me is unfathomable. Did you seriously think I would agree with you on ANYTHING you said when it was YOU 12 years ago who were the victim of the very same thing?!?!

100

Salem Phoenix @salemthekit.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

You literally promised them that you would do anything to keep them safe. You promised we weren't gonna be like their parents, their abusive partners, their teachers that decided to SA them, their childhood bullies, and whoever else hurt them. I'm disgusted I ever considered myself a part of y'all.

100

Salem Phoenix @salemthekit.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

Honestly, I'm done with life. This isn't a post about suicide, but for the umpteeth time this year, someone innocent got hurt by the very same people who promised them that they woupd be safe. What the fuck is the point of having a "community" if you all just use it as an excuse to hurt others.

...there are some nights where I realize there's a part of me that's still alive. A part I thought died away from trauma or the pain buried them so far down they could never come out again. Tonight I saw the old me come out while helping someone sleep. Sometimes I can honestly say I still got it.

I just wanna be safe... I just want to have allies, to be told that I won't be hurt and actually believe it. I don't understand why so many people want me hurt even after I do what they ask. Fighting back makes them mad. Accepting them makes them mad. Even loving them makes them mad...
