an agent largely wrote the code, but i don’t think that really matters? in the case of slop, i would argue the world would be better off without it. i think the world is better with this project existing.

if this was going to exist at all, it was going to be with AI assistance because reversing and emulating PMICs is so beyond my paygrade as a designer. and hiring someone to do it by hand was never on the table because i don’t have the disposable income to hire someone for shits and giggles. the alternative is this not existing at all.

There are absolutely bugs and paper-cuts that bug me, there are absolutely code smells and footguns that someone more senior than me could spot from a mile away. Just like how software has always been.

In the case of software specifically, because agentic coding is so ubiquitous, I don’t think the benchmark of slop should be AI’s involvement. It ought to be “is the world better off with this existing”

The Duo will have a big impact on the app ecosystem. iPad layouts always took second billing, but now that iPhone-only apps are forced to support larger screens, I imagine more effort will go into bigger layouts. And at that point, they might as well enable native iPad support.

alright a couple people got it directionally but not in full fidelity. Lion DP1, you could set `defaults write com.apple.dock springboard-left-of-finder -bool YES` and get this. that first Lion beta build is absolutely chock full of experimental UI behind flags.
