New data shows a further 14% drop so far this year in adults taking English & maths courses. All due to fewer apprentices doing so after Government removed the requirement. Reminder: 9m adults in England have low literacy or numeracy; it'll take 25 years for all to get help on current trends.

New data shows adult English & maths learning seems to have bottomed out, but at half the level it was at a decade ago. On current trends it will take 20 years+ for everyone to get the help they need. This doesn't get attention it needs - 9m adults in England have low literacy or numeracy.

Read Sue's new blog for Campaign for Learning. There is significant uncertainty in the economy right now - we cannot lose sight of the potential in growing and investing in the talent of adults. The government needs to rethink, reset and reinvest. @sahn14.bsky.social @cforlearning.bsky.social
