Hey Mat why are fewer younger and less affluent households investing in consoles or buying $80 video games right now? Idk man call Sherlock Holmes cuz it's a real gd mystery.

Good morning, Bluesky! I keep banging my head against a wall: Why did I offer myself to do an animation in After Effects? Perhaps we'll never know. In the meantime, check this comic out. Neat.

More Witcher 3 screenshots. Game's looking FINE AF. Last screenshot was the moment I turned on framegen. After stumbling upon the refugee-full bridge to Novigrad, and later the bridge to Oxenfurt, the amount of NPCs drove me to the 40s. Guess sooner or later it had to happen.

Geralt standing on a bar counter. A man in scrappy armor stands behind him.

A man peeks through a window, face full of fear.

Geralt riding Roach on a path, lots of greenery in the distance.

Geralt walking through the bridge to Oxenfurt. The entrance tower can be seen at the end of the bridge; several soldiers and refugees trying to enter the city litter the bridge.

Good morning & buen día, Bluesky! Today I work on an animation for a presentation a department in my company needs. I am not an animator, but do know how to work on After Effects. Showing them I could do it comes biting me in the ass.

Looks good, as chaotic and random as Battlefield 6 is. The tease at the end gives a reason for the upcoming leaked cosmetics. I wonder if there'll be an event or something tied to it? Even if it does take things quite far into "sci-fi horror" territory for the franchise.

Good morning, Bluesky! A friend of mine is currently in Seoul, and is sharing photos. This one caught my eye. Tall buildings, lights everywhere, lots of people walking the streets at night, businesses are open and serving. How wonderful it must be to be in that kind of civilization!

A busy street in Seoul, South Korea. Tall buildings light up a street and plaza where myriad small food stalls are surrounded by pedestrians out for an evening walk.

Pokopia (que leo ya lo tienes) es bien bonito, bastante chill. Dependiendo de interés y/o nostalgia, el Star Fox. Igual, el próximo Ocarina. He escuchado muy buenas cosas del Fire Emblem (aunque no he jugado ninguno) 😁

Imagine in any sane world where the leader of a nation says it's okay if 2 of it's major cities gets destroyed and millions of lives lost, but it's fine, because it's a "small price to pay."

Oooooh man, this was a fun one. Yeah, it was every bit what JC says, but it was entertaining. Bruce did a bunch of quips for different actions - though I don't remember it being annoying. It was just silly 90s fun.

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I'm fine with capping my framerate to 60 when I turn all the bells and whistles on, but even then (plus the mod) it's starting to show signs of small struggle. I'll keep playing, might have to switch to ultra performance DLSS... we'll see how it fares in future areas.

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x 8-Core GPU: RTX 4080 RAM: 32Gb I am using a mod that reduces path tracing bounces from 2 to 1, and no hairworks, plus DLSS Performance. So far, so good, but unless something changes until then, early tests show Toussaint drops to around the 40s. Haven't checked Skellige.

Witcher 3 is so good! Finished the tutorial zone and have reached Velen, the first main area. Performance here is now between 55 and 60, but it's still going well. Frame Generation takes it to almos 120, but want to avoid that unless it's absolutely necessary. Fantastic game then and now.

I was trying to start gaming - was trying a mod that improves path tracing performance in The Witcher 3 - but there's a powerful storm outside. Feels like lightning is falling very close, and there's little power hiccups. Better turned my PC off.

Good morning, Bluesky! I forgot this launched this month. It kinda wasn't on my radar, despite me being a Star Wars fan, but these reviews made me at least add it to my wish list. Curious: Steam doesn't list HDR as a feature, which is a shame. Vehicles, explosions and Star Wars shine in HDR.

Some good indies in there. Gonna ask my stepson if there's anything he likes. The "AAA" ones? Eeeeeh too expensive still. Sub-$20 is my default for non-critical games 😅

010

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Checked my wishlist. None of the "big" ones are at gasp-worthy discounts. Miss those days. (There's some indie gems, tho...)

Searched for videos of playthroughs of this exact quest. Like... the Next-Gen update already did wonders. But Remastered... DAMN. (In order: Original, Next-Gen update, Remastered.)

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

More The Witcher 3 Remastered screens. At points the new lighting + path tracing makes it look like a whole new game. Still in White Orchard (the "tutorial" area) and performance is steady (DLSS ultra perf). I know it'll get worse, so enjoying it while I can 😅

020

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Haha well, victory would be a miracle (what with latency issues), but the crossover is really fun!

000

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

You're welcome! Depending on your setup, it might be playable with all the bells and whistles, but you can drop the heaviest features if you wanna enjoy the game and aren't bothered about path tracing or ray tracing 😁

010

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Now, sure, I was testing Ultra+ settings + RT/PT on (no Hairworks). Dropping these would make it far more playable... but they're kinda the highlight of the patch. Worth noting: I played through the whole game at 4K/RT earlier this year, and it ran mostly fine. Remaster is heavier to run!

010

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Oh! Nothing wrong with 4K per se! I was testing Path Tracing last night (Toussaint) on my PC (7700x, rtx4080) and hovered in the 40s even with DLSS on *Ultra Performance*. White Orchard was fine. Framegen feels mandatory, but has small visual glitches. And this was 1440p. 4K would likely explode.

210

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Earlier this year, I thought about getting a new monitor. I was thinking OLED, but was undecided between 27" 1440p or 27"/32" 4K as I'd seen recommended so many times. After last night's Witcher 3 test, whenever it's time to upgrade, it'd definitely be a 27" 1440p OLED. No way I can 4K this one.

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Apologies, are you asking if we deserve... the event? Or a victory in the mode? 😅

100

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

The crossover no one thought off is back! If you're new, make sure to get the rewards. Some cool stuff in there! You can get the currency even if you don't win... I'd know lol. #ffxiv

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Good morning, Bluesky! Still thinking of The Witcher 3 tests from yesterday. Could they patch it to improve performance? The Toussaint section makes me hesitant to continue a playthrough. I imagine Novigrad is going to make my machine collapse 😅

000

Spookycyte @sagacyte.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Tried The Witcher 3 Remastered and boy, does it look beautiful. Performance is odd, tho. Started a fresh game, RT + PT, DLSS Ultra Performance, no FrameGen: Stable 60. Loaded an old save in Toussaint: Mid 40s. Re-loaded the fresh game: 54? For my RTX4080 + AMD 7700x, it's taxing.
