According to officers on-scene, the arrested person had threatened police with a knife. The person was tased. After medical evaluation by AMR, the person is now in police custody.

The march ended in Esther Short Park where demonstrators had a chance to sign petitions and gather information about upcoming Resistance action. A fitting end to a peaceful demonstration, protestors used the opportunity to connect with eachother and strengthen their resolve for the coming struggle.

As the speeches on the main stage concluded, protestors took to the surrounding streets. The group marched up the sidewalk of Columbia St before turning onto 12th St. Organizers throughout the #march lead participants in spirited chants, setting the tone of the next stop.

#VancouverWA will be gathering in Esther Short Park at 12:00 Noon. Vancouver's #MayDay rally, hosted by several local political activism groups, aims to bring attention to the plight of the working class and the undeniable negative impact which billionaires have on the lives of the average person.

Despite worrying police activity immediately prior to the demonstration and a meager counter-protest during, the protest concluded without incident. Demonstrators happily maintained their commitment to nonviolent resistance, engaging with supportive drivers to spread a message of action and hope.

As with any mass social movement, it is expected that different people and groups have different ideas about how to approach resistance. The important thing is that organizers acknowledge the impact of their allegiances and respect marginalized voices when they provide input.

UPDATE: A #SAFESET correspondent confirmed that Vancouver Police Department has cleared from the protest location. The heavy police presence appeared to be related to an arrest unrelated to the #TeslaTakedown protest.
