When I was 3 years old, I was so excited to see Sesame Street Live that I slipped while dancing in glee on a balance beam and had to get stitches. Tonight, I'm going to Medieval Times with @wrestleacademic.bsky.social and @totalhell.bsky.social and y'all are LUCKY there is no balance beam nearby.

In my shower this morning, I got very cross that the narrator of Joseph and the Amazing Etc. CLAIMS she doesn’t say who is wrong, who is right. Girl. You are fooling NO ONE, we know where you stand, what is this fair and balanced nonsense.

Well, I got cross at a stranger and immediately paid the karmic price by coming home and losing a brand new monthly contact the moment I took it off my eye, so I guess that’s ME taught a lesson.

There is a special circle of hell for people who keep snorting that little bit of snot back into their noses every fifteen seconds for the ENTIRE LAST HALF HOUR OF THE PLAY, I wish the woman next to me a SPEEDY ride there, I will pay her fare.

I have seen an embarrassingly small number of August Wilson’s century plays, so thank goodness I finally had a chance to up the tally tonight with Ma Rainey.

Local theatre sent an email with the subject "Meet the Designers of BETRAYAL!" And hey, props for the enthusiasm, but I can't stop picturing what would happen if you tried to turn Pinter into musical theatre (since that's what the exclamation point does to the title in my brain).

I miss when Blogger had more detailed analytics available, as my M4M review bumped up over 100 hits since yesterday morning and I haven't seen it being shared publicly, which normally is where the boosts come from. Is it bots? I don't understand bots, I hope they like Shakespeare.

Today I am grateful for acorns underfoot, the third movement of the Chichester Psalms, and the comfort in Dolly’s voice when she sings “everything’s gonna be alright, it’s gonna be okay” in Light of a Clear Blue Morning.

Oops, have made the mistake of watching the trailer for Elsinore and GOD, I’m having a lot of feelings about the National Theatre which is not their primary intention but I DO think the filmmakers would understand the reaction.

Fun fact, when I called the board of elections to ask about this, the recruiter IMMEDIATELY told me it was fine, they needed me to work the actual election more than anything else. Which means! Folks, check with your local BoE, they need people desperately and it's also genuinely rewarding.

Every season, I try to have some sort of reminder within sight of where I imagine Frances’ poor head to be. She’s doing absolutely fine, y’all, nothing to see here.
Photo of a small notepad, decorated like a prop for the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. On it, is written in increasingly illegible handwriting, lines from Christina Rossetti’s poem “Goblin Market”:

We must not look at goblin men,
We must not buy their fruits:
Who knows upon what soil they fed
Their hungry thirsty roots?

I am so curious if the current season of Taskmaster took inspiration from the Game Changer episode Alex did VO for, or if it’s pure coincidence and earpiece tasks are just where the zeitgeist is at right now.

I have been an election worker for ten years and I STILL forget to check for conflicts the night before the election, when you are required to set up the polling place. Guess who realized ten minutes into today’s 4 hour training that All Soul’s is that night this year.

Turns out, the wedding is at 1:30, not 1pm, which means the clock is ticking on whether I can make it to my election judge training at 3pm. I think I can be up to 29 minutes late, but if you hit 30, you can’t get credit. And this is also the last scheduled training on the calendar. HOO BOY.

Talked with my boss for half an hour about this play, even though I haven't been able to write about it yet. Truly, I have to work in how interesting this one is to dissect for its failures, which is CERTAINLY not always the case for plays that fall short!

Oo it’s very disorienting to have thought you were up all night and unable to sleep bc your brain was making you play an overly complicated logic puzzle before it would let you sleep and then whoops, turns out that was a dream.

On the one hand, conductor stopped me to ask if I had filled out a form related to singing in a select ensemble- flattering! On the other, there is MUCH AGITAS surrounding this particular opportunity in the choir bc of extra burdens placed on selected singers- worrying!

I’m looking around for examples of Actual Play used by nonprofits (heritage orgs, academia, etc) I’m also trying to get a temp check on how it’s seen vs for-profit. From my comments (& general observation) it seems UK is leading the anglophone world in this one, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Opinion | Trump’s Kennedy Center problem may be more than he bargained for
The ongoing Kennedy Center saga shows Trump does not appear to understand how corporate branding differs from nonprofit norms.

My landlord receives all my mail and delivers it to me, but he holds onto packages in particular until I am home, then shoots me a “package” text. I am utterly, 100% dedicated to a pattern of return texts that alternate perfectly between “thanks!” and “thank you!” and I have no idea why.

American musical theatre today writes songs that need to be mic’d and that is a Problem in a way that bothers me deeply!! More songs for broads! Broads don’t need mics!
