Now that I'm absorbed in a very different FE from what I was used to, I'm curious if another big change would work or maybe even bring benefits - going to a hex-grid instead of square. Could be worth a one-off experiment, at least.

Internet was out a good chunk of yesterday, which apparently caused Steam to throw a fit. I didn't want to bother troubleshooting it so, even though I wanted to play Well Dweller, I booted up Fortune's Weave instead. I, uh... played almost 10 hours straight. Gotta love a 0-responsibility day. 😅

Reuters got some of the IPO docs. Anthropic is a total dog of a company. Spent $12.6bn to make $4.6bn in revenue in 2025, $7.33bn of which was compute costs. Operating loss of $8bn. Losses getting worse year over year. Amazing stuff www.reuters.com/business/fin...

Summary
Companies
• Anthropic IPO could value the company at more than $2
trillion
• Anthropic lost $42 billion in 2025
• Al lab spent $7.33 billion on compute and infrastructure last year
• Operating loss widened to $8.06 billion in 2025 from $2.98 billion in 2024
• Execs, industry analysts have expressed concerns over harms of Al tech
Sept 28 (Reuters) - Anthropic is making a massive bet that Al will transform the global economy more profoundly than industrialization, electricity and the internet, according to its IPO prospectus seen by Reuters.
But the cost to get there will be staggering. Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the
prospectus.

Two books left of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. This is definitely a new favorite and I hope the TV series is good. I'll gladly go through this again via video if it's adapted well like Invincible.

I hate complaining about it, but Polyphia has another new single from their album next month and it has the same blown out, terrible (IMO) production as the last. I'll probably still give the full album a spin despite it all, but these first couple of singles are just... ugh.

This is genuinely funny marketing to me. They know their audience all too well. I don’t recognize all of them, but Matty Mullins (Memphis May Fire) and Shane Told (Silverstein) was enough to sell me.

I’m listening to the @intothecast.bsky.social PS1 episode and thinking “moon: Remix RPG Adventure” sounds right up my alley, so I add it to my Steam wishlist. Less than 2 hours later it goes on sale. How weird that a game I’ve barely been aware of before goes on sale as soon as I am interested.

I wasn’t on here at the time, but I will still own up to being foolishly optimistic at Microsoft acquiring Acti/Blizz/King. What an absolute crapfest. I try to not be partisan for or against a specific console, but Xbox and PlayStation are trading blows to be the worst example of the industry RN.

Part of me is sad that this story arc is ending, but I'm also immensely grateful that it was able to reach an actual conclusion after The Escapist's demise. Even having never watched any D&D-based stories before, I cannot recommend this series enough. Easily one of the best things on YouTube.

Saw a few moots share this. I don’t want to share one of their posts and unintentionally exclude the others, so posting this as a standalone thing instead. I have plenty of other favorites, but these are formative to my taste in games. my9games.net/en if you want to do it yourself.

My 9 formative games. Ocarina of Time, Pokemon Gold, Fire Emblem (the first US release on the GBA), Persona 3 Portable, Hollow Knight, MegaMan Battle Network, Super Mario 64, Stardew Valley, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

do yourself a favor and put on New Found Glory's self-titled today. It's one of the most foundational Pop Punk records ever made. It's like the Ur album, it's foundational to not just the sound of the genre but also the aesthetic

It kind of blows my mind that the same internal team responsible for Tom Nook's predatory loans is also behind perhaps the most bombastic, kinetic series Nintendo has yet produced. I still have the post-game content to go through, but only going through the main story is still more than worth it.

Just filled up exactly 7.000 gallons at the pump. On the one hand, seeing an exact gallon number for the first time in 20 years of driving is kind of cool. On the other hand… holy crap I need to pick up the pace in my EV shopping. Anxiety just makes these things take way too long sometimes.

Rest in peace to Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory. One of the formational bands of my teen years, it’s weird to think of his battle with cancer taking him away at just 45 years old. Only 7ish years older than me. Celebrity deaths don’t usually get to me so I’m surprisingly disturbed at this…

Ended up in bed before it finished since I was wiped out from a bout of insomnia the night before. Her team won 2/4 rounds and then lost in overtime. But it was a good time all around, and I bet if she had her normal squad they’d have cleaned up. Too bad everyone was randomly grouped up.

I discovered that a gin/shochu highball is very tasty, especially for how simple it is. 1 oz each gin and shochu over ice, a splash of lemon or lime, then fill the cup with seltzer. The floral notes of the shochu play really well with the juniper in the gin. Very light, herbal, and refreshing.

The last FE that I really played was Path of Radiance on the 'Cube. Fortune's Weave is so vastly different coming from such a gap. Level cap isn't 20? No weapon triangle? Standard turn-based battles? Explorable world with side quests? It's a lot to take in as effectively a newcomer to modern FE.

Had an issue with a delivery order missing a couple of add-ons, nothing serious. Chat “support” was an “AI” “agent.” Supposedly it understood that only an add-on for two meals was missing, not the whole thing. Both meals were refunded entirely. Not my fault I got $30 of free food. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

I try and ignore it but I still die a little inside every time I see a series I like added to Fortnite. It’s so soulless. I still see it as largely responsible for a lot of the issues we’re seeing in the game industry right now. And of course their layoffs. Ok, I’ll shut up now.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an intro quite like Fortune’s Weave. Very cool stuff. No spoilers from me, don’t worry. All I’ll say is Fabio is a weird little dude and he’s already validating my choice to start with Dietrich’s story.

Walmart’s policy of matching the digital price to the physical for pre-orders and then bumping it back up $10 on release day has convinced me to get a few games earlier than I otherwise would have considered. So anyway, Fire Emblem just arrived a day early. 😁

Ooof, looks like the RAMpocalypse has claimed the Steam Frame. Assuming it's suffering the same percentage price hikes as the Deck and Machine, that might have been tempting at the original intended price. I'll just stick with my PSVR2 and PC adapter. (Which I really should use more anyway...)

That is the whole point. I don't want my car connected to the internet. I don't want a car company able to track where I go, able to report to insurance companies how I drive my car, etc. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the convenience of a modern mapping application! But I want to opt in to that.

This game is a perfect example of why I don't like numbered ratings. Gun to my head, I think balancing the highs and lows I'd give it a 7/10. But the peak moments are an 11/10 that are worth trudging through the 3/10 portions. Just play it. To the right person it can be an overall 9/10 experience.
