So, I've been playing around with 009, and by playing I mean going to town on this Meridian Models Talyllyn kit. It's running on a modified N-drive chassis and was certainly a fun project from start to finish. A nice little diversion that totally won't lead to more 009 antics...

It's quiet around here. Seems even quieter than when I first arrived. Anyway I was enjoying steam in the snow, especially when it's followed by a glass of something while sitting by a crackling log fire. Seasons greetings to one and all.

A christmas card from the L&PR in the late 70s! #L&P

3 tank engines stood outside an icy locomotive shed.

Brigitte on the left, Astraios in the middle, Bia on the right.
Brigitte is in her 1901 livery, with lights hanging from her tanks. Astraios also has lights, a headboard and a wreath on the smokebox, and anlters on the lamp.
Bia is in her 1899 green livery, and adorning a snowplough on her front.

The caption reads "Christmas Sidings! From Portethwaite sheds"

First time I’ve seen a loco using the rather barren new Upperby TMD. Two of LSL’s Class 20s, 20096 & 20107 probably up on a driver training run.

Looking down from Hilltop Heights at the idling choppers, Mk3 stock off to the right.

The site looks fairly different to how it did even a few years ago, the shed was demolished around 2016, with the site being cleared and redeveloped recently by LSL to act as a stabling point and storage area for their rolling stock. A change that’s very nice to see.

Since the depot was closed before privatisation, it’s mostly been used to dump wagons waiting disposal. So it’s nice to see it being used for what it built for, nearly 200 years ago. The remains of the carriage shed can be seen off to the left.

Genesis and 52 years later. When Brigitte arrived, the engine shed had not been completed yet. She was shunted next to the carriage shed, where "Woodstone" had made a space for herself in the mornings and evenings. This siding became used for the disrepaired. #OCs #L&P #portethwaite #leakbeck

Sunset. Two engines sit outside a corrugated carriage shed. The fore engine simmers in steam. The aft engine sits silently behind her

Dreary morning. The same engines at the same carriage shed after years of wear. The fore engine releases carriages from the shed, whilst the aft engine sits folorn amongst the brambles and broken stock

Limestone from the Hardbrooke Quarry can be used for quicklime, bricks and even roofing tiles. This makes the railway perfectly equipped for constructing buildings. Some people even think of the line's architecture as one big advertisement for the quarry's product. #OCs #L&P #portethwaite #leakbeck
