Want a big hit creator-owned book in this market? Seems you need to get in the personal orbits of 10 writers. You can probably name them. All men. I would add 5-10 more that have good followings. Books are either doing “ok” or piles of money. K-shaped. Yes there are exceptions!

I got my comps for EC Comics Cruel Kingdom and they look great! Really nice production quality on these and Oni Press has been great to work with. I’ll have a few at my FallCon table and i’m giving a few to patrons. Give them a look at your comic shop.

That’s interesting. Thank you. My stuff might be old and it might not work. But, if can draw on my ipad with my apple pen while looking at my imac screen, that would be cool. Not sure if that’s what you’re describing.

100

Oh..how does that work? Do you have experience with that?

100

Maybe if i get an apple track pad, that will work. I do all my art by hand, on paper, but then i do coloring for covers and page clean-up in programs like photoshop or clip studio paint so i’m trying to decide what to do now

000

The cable is permanently part of the tablet. It’s all one. I’m not sure i want to buy a new one. I wonder now if me using a desktop computer for professional art is over. I Do more page fix-ups and art stuff on my (old) ipad pro. My imac is indeed running on an old OS too.

My old-timey Intuos 3 tablet just stopped working. do i just accept it’s death and move on? I tried installing various drivers. Maybe it’s a sign.

I think I found my new favorite comic. Creepy wealthy family must make sacrifices to a demon below to preserve their power. Fresh horrors brim over each page. Bonus turtle action. The Day To Order is TODAY.

Kind words about Filthy Lambs from @aaronlosty.bsky.social! Go pre-order now! In the basement, the family patriarch says a prayer and stabs himself in the throat. Blood falls. The demon watches. A woman tries to scream. From @madcavestudios.com, @chrisevenhuis.com, @sjanweijers.bsky.social and I!

"This is action, this is horror, this is grindhouse, this is Pallie, Chris and Sjan, reaching into the depths of hell and dragging something gnarled and beautiful into the light of the fireplace. This is comics at its finest!"

Things royally suck right now, i’m down with you. Found out my dad has cancer this month. A highschool pal shockingly suddenly died last year. I am completely divorced from the comic book industry at this point. Like, almost everyone has just stopped acknowledging my existence since about 2016. Bah!

That look’s amazing. Yes, i’d love to know. My digital inks have that samey-clip-studio-slick look that i kinda hate. I don’t know what to do. I’ve never downloaded fancy brushes or anything like that either. I’ve just used the standard tools in the program

Dude, what the hell, F*** those people. Whoever they are, they are beneath my respect, that’s for sure. What’s so great about them? You’re a great artist.

120

True , paper is very finicky and we artists need consistency!

220

That would be nice if it reversed but not so in my experience, multiple paper makers, always top brands, always hot press. It’s sized with gelatin, i think. The sizing process must be different than in the cold press process. Once it’s bad, it’s bad. Really frustrating.

Winter months all the same…My google and Reddit searches say that humidity can affect the sizing in the paper. I buy pads and store them…should probably start just buying paper when i need it, not stockpiljng it.

010

I guess i’ll have to move all the fancy watercolor paper upstairs which is a hassle, but what can i do? It seems like once the paper “goes bad” (either in the factory, the distributor, the retailer, or my basement) it can’t be fixed. Seems like it’s always just hot press problems i’m dealing with

310

My studio is in a basement, and all my expensive pads are down there, i run a humidifier in the summer but maybe not good enough. But again, cold press seems to survive and hold up. Hot press always goes bad. You can resize paper but eh, seems like extra fuss and a waste of

120

As for the latter…if it’s humidity on paper sitting around…the hot press seems to always get effected, the cold press seems to never “go bad”. I don’t know if it’s quality control or climate. But I’m going to stop stockpiling expensive paper, letting it sit. Only going to buy new paper when needed

220

It just comes down to the sizing. Either the sizing isn’t adequate in the factory or all the sizing is getting ruined by humidity (which is totally possible). The former happened with Fabriano, it was SO BAD that they had to put a label on the pads that said “Sorry we f*cked up it’s better now”…
