Most of the social programs that are routinely dismissed in American politics as "unrealistic" or "too expensive" could have been paid for multiple times over by the cost of this war so far, much less the costs to come. It's never the money.

I'm glad so many people showed up to protest on June 14th. I wanted to suggest one thing motivated people can do that will help with the long term structural changes we need: If you have fossil fueled equipment that is approaching the end of its life, replace it with an electric version.

Hey climate scientists - question for ya! Is it fair to say that the planet's temperature has risen by 1.5C since the industrial revolution? Saying 1.5 feels more accurate than the typical ~1.3 that people say, given where we're at right now/the trends/chances of dipping below 1.5 again.

Ryan Hagen @ryanhagen.bsky.social · 07/04/2025
Climate science question! (will help w a book) We crossed 1.5C for the first time on an annual basis in the last year or two What's the lowest temperature expected over the next decade? (range? best guess) Will we dip below 1.5 again? If so by how much? And ~how many more times?

@climatehuman.bsky.social - question for ya (for a climate action book I'm writing) Is *reversing* global heating possible this century? I've heard you say that the heating we cause is irreversible for thousands of years. I've heard others (e.g. Michael Mann) say that..
